In the past, Bungie has sold level boosts in Destiny 2. These not only cost a lot but are often not worth it. Players are now calling for not to purchase these outrageously expensive boosts, as they do not pay off.
What kind of boost is this? You have certainly noticed a new symbol behind your Guardian’s bar when selecting after the Weekly Reset. This was already introduced in Destiny 1 and 2, allowing players to boost their Guardian to the soft cap for “small” money.
As many new players jump in at the release of a big DLC, Guardians on reddit have called for not to buy these boosts. They labeled the paid upgrades as a waste of money and also do not save you any time regarding reaching the soft cap.
Expensive boosts that do not save you time
How much does the boost cost? If you are considering purchasing the boost, it costs 2,000 silver. This amounts to 20 euros. You have to spend this price for all Guardians you want to push to the soft cap.
What do the Guardians have against the boosts? Players on reddit warn against this “shortcut” as it only takes away the fun of the game and simultaneously your hard-earned money. They condemn Bungie, knowing that many unsuspecting players would fall for it:
It’s really a shame for Bungie to offer this at all. They know that players will not know any better, but they know how trivial it is to reach the soft cap.

Many players believe that it is unnecessary to take such a shortcut with such a great story and the simple possibilities of leveling up.
You can buy legendary gear and exotic weapons and armor above your level from Xûr every Friday. If you have already raised a Guardian above the soft cap, you just need to transfer your stronger weapons to your low-level character.
Automatically, you save time and get better loot. Players have said that they even managed to get above the soft cap in 30 minutes. However, newcomers to the loot shooter see the climb to the soft cap as a huge hurdle. However, comparing the grind from the soft cap to the hard cap makes the journey seem like a walk in the park.
So don’t waste your money and instead enjoy Destiny 2 with its looting and leveling. That’s what it was designed for, and farming is even more fun with friends.
