If you read the latest Destiny 2 TWaB blog post, you may have noticed the highlighted characters. The new community manager of Bungie cleverly slipped in a secret emblem there. We looked into what it’s about and will reveal how you can get the free badge.
Free badges are quite popular in Destiny 2. Every Guardian enjoys a free cosmetic, and Bungie constantly comes up with something creative to acquire the badges.
- The badge codes can, for example, be hidden behind binary codes in trailers.
- Sometimes you find code parts on several photos of weapons (via Twitter.com).
- Players can earn badges for particularly friendly deeds.
Who is behind the secret badge action? This time it was Bungie’s new, quirky community manager Liana Rupert, nicknamed “Hippy,” who hid the latest badge. She has been at Bungie since October 2021 and describes herself as having an unhealthy obsession with Destiny 2 and that jumping puzzles are the curse of her existence while she rocks the 1K.
She cleverly hid the code for the free badge solely for really clever Guardians in the last “This Week at Bungie” blog (abbreviated as TWaB).

In the text, only a few letters were put in bold, and the sentence points were linked. The links led to two forum posts by Senior Community Manager dmg04, who had posted the numbers “FOUR” and “SIX.” When you combined all the highlighted letters with the numbers, you got the following promo code:

This was actually only noticed by a few attentive Guardians, like Destiny 2 player JayCar527, but he initially thought nothing of it:
I noticed the bold letters in the last paragraph and thought: “That’s odd, I wonder if something happened with the HTML when it was copied. Seems like someone noticed this.” I should have known better.
How to get the new badge
If you want to get the badge, you need to go to Bungie’s website to redeem the code. There you log in with your account details and then enter the code. After that, you just need to start Destiny 2 and go to your collection to admire and equip the new cosmetic named “Web of Lies.”

The badge features the logo of an old acquaintance: It is particularly interesting that we see the logo of the black market dealer Spider on the emblem. His imminent death in Destiny 2 has been predicted if the Shattered Coast disappears in the Content Vault.
But so far, nothing has happened. Currently, Guardians only know from the lore that Mara Sov commissioned Petra to assassinate Spider. However, he continues to sit cheerfully in the Shattered Coast, swirling with his eight arms, despite having had ominous conversations with the Drifter about an escape attempt. Could this be perhaps a last sign of life from him?
