In Destiny 2, leaked audio files suggest the possible return of a popular cult character from part 1. Will we soon meet the mysterious Stranger Exo again?

Which character are we talking about? “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain.” With this sentence, the mysterious Stranger Exo from part 1 went down in the history of Destiny and made a lasting impression on many veterans. But after a brief encounter in Destiny 1, she vanished without a trace – until today.
The Stranger is one of the most intriguing and mysterious characters in the history of the space shooter, about whom many want to learn more. Where did she go? Why did she help us? And who is she, anyway? Questions upon questions – and that is why many players firmly believe that Destiny will somehow bring her back into the game.
If a suspected data leak is to be believed, it could happen soon. This would allow Bungie to pick up a story surrounding a character with cult status, which many players have wished for since Destiny 1.
Leak suggests possible return of the mysterious Stranger Exo
What is the leak about? Recently, a leak was posted on the Chinese video platform Youku, which apparently contained several extracted audio recordings from yet-to-be-released cutscenes. This is presumed to be related to an upcoming event in Destiny 2.
Although the leak was quickly removed there, some users managed to secure the audio files and make them available on alternative platforms. The audio files come in FLAC format, which usually indicates that they belong to a render video.
What does the leak reveal? The recordings feature a female voice that many fans and experts, like YouTuber Houndish, were sure it is the mysterious Stranger Exo from Destiny 1 – albeit with a different voice actor. However, her way of speaking, her emphasis – it all feels very similar to the Stranger.
It sounds as if the audio files (story-wise) come from an upcoming event – possibly already from Season 10, which is still unclear.
On one hand, the female voice talks about the trials of a Warlock, apparently the returning Trials of Osiris.
On the other hand, in another recording, it is mentioned that her exile (apparently a reference to her disappearance in Destiny 1) was her own decision. But it was necessary.
Furthermore, it sounds like the Stranger would be conversing with Cabal Emperor Calus and teasing him about his weight. She slowly believes there is no place for him in the coming war.

Some players believe that as the events surrounding the great upcoming fight against the darkness unfold, the Exo-Stranger may come back into focus.
Currently, there is a lot suggesting that we will soon face a gigantic battle fleet of the darkness.
What do we know so far about the Stranger Exo? Story-wise, such a development would indeed make sense. Because Ana Bray is currently in focus in the story alongside Commander Zavala and Warmind Rasputin.
Together, they try to avert the threat posed by the overwhelming power descending on Earth, a gigantic command ship of the Cabal fleet. In addition, they hope to find an ally in Warmind Rasputin against the imminent darkness.
Regarding the Stranger Exo, lore-wise it’s pretty much settled – it is Elsie Bray, the sister of Ana Bray. This was revealed in a major community puzzle. The interesting part: Elsie already spoke of an impending, final conflict in which our Guardian and Ana Bray will play important roles. And Bungie has already announced that in Season 11, a lot will be brought together. This season should be like no other. A return of the Stranger Exo and a merging of this storyline seems very likely in light of this recent leak. It remains exciting until the end of Season 10 – also for 3 other reasons.
