Bungie has fundamentally reworked the system of the Nightfall Strike in Destiny 2. With all the new mechanics and modifications, it’s easy to lose track. We show you how to definitely complete the Nightfall!
The Nightfall Strike is part of the endgame content in Destiny 2 alongside other activities. This is where you can get the best gear that will definitely push you forward.
The Changes in Nightfalls in Destiny 2
The Nightfall is no longer tackled in the same way as in Destiny 1. In particular, campers need to be prepared. You now start the Nightfall this week with a time limit. This “counter” can only be increased by killing enemies. You get two seconds for the regular enemies, seven seconds for the tougher foes. So don’t leave the enemies behind, they bring valuable time!
In addition, there is an active modifier that activates a rotating “element burn”. Damage from the Arc, Solar, and Void elements is massively increased alternately. Each time the element changes, it will be indicated to you at the bottom left. Then you’ll know immediately which element you should attack with.
Otherwise: The Nightfall can be tackled from Power Level 230 – higher levels are recommended.

How to Complete the Nightfall Strike in Destiny 2
Picture the three elements: Arc, Solar, and Void as a magical triangle. You are three players and should distribute your weapons across all elements accordingly. This could look something like this:
- Player 1: Energy weapon with Void element, Power weapon with Arc element
- Player 2: Energy weapon with Arc element, Power weapon with Solar element
- Player 3: Energy weapon with Solar element, Power weapon with Void element
This distribution ensures that two players can deal maximum damage while the third player works with their kinetic weapon.

The Boss Fight – Take Him Down Quickly
Let’s focus on your strategy. Do you think using all three focuses gives you an advantage? Wrong. You will all use the Arc focus. Why? The super attack of the Arc focuses is always a reusable super with a certain duration, no matter what class you play.
Use your super attacks whenever damage from Arc abilities is increased. This is particularly exciting during the boss fight. Don’t damage the boss until your super attack is finished and Arc damage is increased. Now all three players unleash their super attacks and take the boss down in a few seconds.
Congratulations – You have completed the Nightfall! For the quest of the Rat King, you need to complete the Nightfall with a remaining time of 5 minutes.
Note: The modifiers change from week to week. The reset is on Tuesdays at 11 AM. The loot can only be collected weekly.
