Destiny 2: New update adjusts Exotics and issues – Preview of patch notes

On Destiny 2, the biggest update since Beyond Light is coming on December 8th. This update addresses bugs but also brings a long-requested quality-of-life feature, although differently than expected.

On November 10, 2020, the wait for many Guardians was finally over, and Beyond Light went live. The expansion hit like a bomb, even though there were launch issues. In the following weeks, there were constant fixes and small updates.

What’s coming in Destiny 2: In just a few days, on December 8th, the first fully packed, “real” update for Destiny 2 is coming. Update 3.0.1 is relatively large, with file sizes ranging from 1.5 GB to as much as 70 GB depending on the platform.

Here’s what you can expect just in time for the next Weekly Reset:

  • Destiny 2 will receive extensive improvements for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
  • Numerous fixes and minor issues will be addressed.
  • Three of the new Exotics will be adjusted.
  • You can accept bounties from vendors without having to visit them.
  • The first Iron Banner of Season 12 will start.
  • The popular endgame activity “Prophecy Dungeon” returns with top loot.
  • And the Crucible will be a bit more forgiving.

MeinMMO gives you an outlook on the highlights of the announced changes and looks at the patch notes.

Patch Notes Preview 3.0.1 Destiny 2

What happens with the new Exotics: Beyond Light brought 2 new Exotics each for Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. Three of the unique armors will receive changes.

Mask of Bakris (Hunter):

  • Improved visibility of the visual effect – this means that opposing Guardians will now see more clearly when a Hunter jumps at them with the Exotic.
  • The item description will be adjusted to correctly name the damage bonus: The additional damage does not affect Guardians, only PvE enemies – this applies to Arc weapon damage and damage against slowed or frozen opponents.
  • Players affected by Stasis in the Crucible and Gambit will no longer take damage (this was a bug).

Necrotic Grip (Warlocks):

  • If you were eliminated by the damage of the Exotic, you used to receive the message “Eliminated by the Architects” – that is now a thing of the past with Update 3.0.1.

Icefall Mantle (Titan):

  • Due to a bug, the description of the Exotic did not mention that activating the protection creates a slow field. The additional effect will now be visibly added for all.

Patch Notes at a glance: Here we give you a summary of the most important changes of Update 3.0.1. For the full preview, visit the Bungie page on Bungie.net.

  • The new quest sniper rifle can now finally be pulled from the collection. If you dismantled or infused it, you can regain it.
  • Your collection should also no longer “forget” which page you were on when you viewed an item in preview. Additionally, armor mods will now correctly state the source in the collection and you will see the correct class for shards.
  • The mercy rule in the Crucible no longer triggers prematurely – this rule ends matches with an unassailable point difference more kindly, instead of forcing players to endure the shame longer.
  • The Exotic kiosk no longer blinks continuously, even if you own all Exotics.
  • The new entry for “New Light” guardians and veterans has been eased by some issues. So if you had problems there, you can relax and continue playing after the update.

Bungie also lists a long list of known issues that they are currently working on. Soon, for example, colorblind guardians should have fewer issues tracking the Born of Wrath.

Destiny 2 gets a long-awaited feature – but only in the app for now

What the Companion App will soon be able to do: Along with Update 3.0.1, the “Destiny Companion App” for Android and iOS will also receive an update:

  • You can finally accept bounties from NPCs without having to visit them.
  • This will work with your smartphone.
  • However, initially, this will only work when you are offline, in the Tower, or in orbit.
  • Anyone wanting to learn more about the useful features of the official Companion App for Destiny 2 will find information here.

Tess and her Eververse are often accused of receiving special treatment from Bungie

Whether the feature will also be integrated into the game itself later is still unclear. The guardians have been demanding this for a long time. With one vendor, this already works: The Eververse – it can be conveniently accessed through the menu at any time.

Are you looking forward to the changes and do you think it’s good that Destiny 2 has been so generously supplied with fixes and updates since the launch of Beyond Light? Especially the veterans remember much longer intervals.

The creators of Destiny are apparently also working on completely different projects, which not everyone likes: Bungie has been developing new games for 3 years – fans of Destiny 2 criticize this
