Destiny 2 has once again demonstrated its strong trailer skills at the Game Awards 2022 and makes the neon green abilities of its Guardians in Lightfall make even Spiderman look old as the small preview revealed surprising Guardian moves, surfing Cloud Riders, Tormentors, and a shocked antagonist of the Traveler.
What kind of trailer is this? The latest trailer from Bungie is another preview of the upcoming expansion Destiny 2: Lightfall, which premiered at the Game Awards 2022:
The new DLC will be released on February 28, 2023, taking Guardians to Neomuna, a futuristic city in the clouds.
What exactly does the video show? On one hand, you can see the new Darkness ability “Strand” in action. With this, players should literally be able to tug at the neon green “threads of reality”.
- 00:14 – Here, a Hunter becomes the movement king. You see him activating his new super ability from Lightfall to casually attempt a stylish somersault off a skyscraper.
- 00:30 – Now the new grappling hook comes into play. But not to swing from corner to corner like Spiderman. Real Guardians use their Strand lasso to cling to a Titan who has just activated his Thundercrash super. Faster and cooler, you probably can’t get from A to B in Destiny 2 starting from Lightfall.
- 00:53 – With the Titan, neon green claws manifest, allowing him to easily tear his enemies, in this case, Vex, apart.
- 00:53 – The lasso apparently also serves as a mob killer. You can see a Hunter using it to easily pulverize his enemies in a sweeping attack.
- 01:03 – The Warlock, on the other hand, will manipulate the neon green fabric with his thoughts in Lightfall and hurls green projectiles at his enemies.
In addition to the ability gameplay of the Guardians, you also see some enemies:
- At 01:18, one of the giant “Tormentors” can be seen in the trailer. They are coming into the game as brand new enemies with the Lightfall DLC. This adversary kneels and focuses on a Guardian who apparently cannot escape him. He then throws him away with a shot from his hand in a high arc.
In addition to the Tormentors, Guardians must primarily face off against the Shadow Legion soldiers. This Cabal army is under the newest disciple of the Witness: Calus.
Can any details about the story be discovered? Not specifically – but there are small hints. Strong impressions from Hollywood are also included.
- Observant Guardians have noticed the narrator of the trailer. It is Osiris, who talks about how he too has learned “to overcome the impossible through loss”.
- You see a Cloud Rider surfing through the air on a silver board.
- In parts of the trailer, planets like Earth can also be seen. But no Traveler.
- A horrified expression on the Witness was also surprising for players. Until now, he was rather aloof and seemed unstoppable. But now, as a kind of white tree with blood-red leaves opens up in front of him in the trailer to unleash forceful energy in his direction, it seems he doesn’t like it at all.
This is also what players can expect in Lightfall: The new DLC Lightfall is also said to improve the systems of Destiny 2. Bungie has already announced that there will be a Guardian rank system. Assistance to help new players better understand the game. Also, veterans should find new ways to help others in the game through a Guardian rank system. However, the highlight is the integrated loadout system, allowing you to save your builds in the game.
Musical highlight of the trailer: Just like in the last DLC “Witch Queen”, Bungie has once again used a very unique and powerful musical background in this trailer. It features the song “Used to the Darkness” by Des Rocs in the Fytch Remix.
How did you like the little preview? And what did you particularly like? Feel free to tell us in the comments.
