In Destiny 2, you can now acquire the weapon exotic Ruinous Effigy. To do this, you must complete a multi-part quest, which we will guide you through in this guide. You will find the locations of all Calcified Lights and Puppets here, and we will also take a look at the new Exo-Trace Rifle.
This is how you start the Exo-quest “Growth”: To call the new exotic Ruinous Effigy your own in Season 11, you need to complete a longer quest line. The task begins at the Prisma-Converter. It is located next to the Drifter, where you also focus the new Umbral Engrams.
During the Growth quest, you will visit four planets and have to complete some collectible tasks as well as special kills. The first of four quest steps requires you to play a weekly story mission.
Complete the Interference mission on Io
This is quest step 1 – Gift: Before you can tackle the Interference mission, you must complete the weekly task “Means to an End.” The procedure is not different from previous weeks.
This is the task in the week from June 7 to June 14:
- Complete public contact events on Io or Titan: Just participating in the activity gives you progress. After two to three rounds, this step is done.
- Collect Umbral Traces: These items are automatically picked up and require kills or participation in various activities. Currently, you can have fun in Gambit, Gambit Prime, the Escalation Protocol, or Reckoning.
- Interference mission on Io: Select the mission via your map on Io and follow the massive Screamer through the linear story mission.
Once you have defeated Savathûn’s monster Screamer, Zavala will appear next to Eris. You will then receive the next quest step.
Find all 25 Calcified Lights and Savathûn’s Puppets
This is quest step 2 – Pendulum: This quest step is divided into 2 tasks. You can tackle both tasks simultaneously:
- Collect Calcified Light Fragments (25)
- Defeat Savathûn’s Puppets (15)
This is how you find all Calcified Light Fragments: The sought-after lights are located on Io, Mars, Mercury, and Titan. With the help of your Ghost, you can display the locations of the Calcified Lights – they will appear as quest markers, including distance.

This is how you find and defeat Savathûn’s Puppets: The puppets are special Taken Champions that can appear in the patrol area of Titan or Io. They are accompanied by mini-bosses known from the Contact Event.
These are the 3 options:
- Destroy 3 Taken Orbs to summon the puppet and its entourage
- Defeat the two Taken Knights and the sought champion will appear. To disable the shield, the knights must be close together
- Eliminate the Taken Cabal to lure out the puppet. If it is immune, get rid of the rot nearby
On the lower left corner of the screen, you will also be alerted if a “Disruptor” is nearby. This refers to the puppets.
This is quest step 3 – Nourishing: This quest step requires you to:
- Complete Gambit or Reckoning matches
- 25 precision multi-kills (quick headshots in succession)
- 100 Void kills
You can tackle all 3 tasks simultaneously. There is bonus progress when you master higher tiers of Reckoning, land kills as an Invader, or eliminate the Invader itself.
Once you have completed all tasks, you will receive a unique exotic engram. So make sure you have space in your inventory.
This is quest step 4 – Shaping: You now need to return to the Prisma-Converter in the Tower. There you will decrypt your new exotic engram and receive the new exotic weapon. This will complete the quest “Growth.”

Ruinous Effigy (Ruinous Effigy) – The reward for your efforts
This is what the exotic can do: Ruinous Effigy is one of the craziest weapons in Destiny 2. The Exo-Trace Rifle deals Void damage and requires special ammunition for that. However, it becomes particularly exciting because of its exotic perks:
- Transmutation: Final blows with this weapon cause their victims to collapse into Void Transmutation spheres.
- Evolution: Transmutation spheres created by you can be picked up and used as weapons by you or your allies.
You will defeat an enemy with your laser beam and transform them into spheres that you can carry like a relic weapon and perform different actions with. You have light and heavy attacks available, as well as a block with area damage. Additionally, these actions further enhance your normal laser beam.
