Since Season 22, there is finally a new Exo weapon combo in Destiny 2 that shoots flying creatures. The grenade launcher named “Ex-Diris” and the “Moth Guardian’s Cloak” complement each other perfectly and create sentient flutter friends that will always support you appropriately in battle.
This is how projectiles become dazzling moth balls: With the DLC “The Witch Queen”, Bungie already introduced a heavy grenade launcher to the game, whose ammo consisted of worm babies.
What initially sounds somewhat cruel, however, was able to deal quite a bit of damage, which is why Guardians are still eagerly shooting worms at their opponents to this day.
Since Season 22, Guardians have a new cool toy of this kind: A grenade launcher whose projectiles are actually “moth balls”. And it’s really cool as well.
- When killing an enemy, a lightning-fast moth emerges that seeks out victims.
- If it hits one, it not only explodes but also blinds the enemies.
Moreover, the new armor exotic from Season 22, the “Moth Guardian’s Cloak”, can significantly enhance the weapon’s use through its synergy. We will tell you how it works and how cool it is.
Be Moth Summoners and Make Your Weapon Angry
This is how you get the moths in Season 22: Savathun demonstrated it in “The Witch Queen” and now Guardians can do it too. If you aim to transform the Destiny 2 universe into a fluttering moth paradise, then the Exo grenade launcher “Ex-Diris” with the Arc element is perfect for you.
- The grenade launcher is included in the Season Pass of “Season of the Witch”.
- Its Exo Perk “Corrupted Nucleosynthesis” can make the weapon angry by causing damage or continuously taking damage.
- As long as your weapon is angry, its rate of fire is increased.
- Killing blows with this weapon activate “Loyal Moths” and make you the moth summoner of a sweet flutter bug that chases targets.
- Upon contact with an opponent, your moth explodes and deals damage.
- A nice side effect is that your moths additionally blind upon explosion.
Dazzling moths are not only spectacularly explosive to watch, but they also impair the visibility and aiming of enemies, which often gives you a tactical advantage in battle.
This improves the weapon’s synergies even further: To get the most out of your new moth launcher in Season 22, two things are necessary.
On one hand, the weapon’s catalyst.
You will receive it directly from Banshee-44, the weapon master in the Tower, after you have picked up the weapon from the Season Pass. If you complete the quest “Grenade Logic” (200 weapon kills with “Ex-Diris”), the catalyst grants the additional perk “Berserker Surge”.
- Berserker Surge: Your grenade launcher “Ex-Diris” becomes angry faster when you are empowered. Last hits grant the player “Empowered”.
On the other hand, you should equip the new Season 22 armor exotic “Moth Guardian’s Cloak” for the Hunter.
If you don’t know where to get this armor Exo – here you will find all the info:
Moth Exo offers a Symphony of Versatility
This is what you should try out: The true moth magic unfolds with the Hunter Exo “Moth Guardian’s Cloak”. It gives the weapon essentially two charges of “moth balls” with different burning types that you can unleash on enemies.
- The Arc moth flies slower and has an offensive role. It seeks out targets and explodes upon contact as usual.
- In PvE it causes up to 526 and in PvP up to 31 arc grenade damage.
- The Void moth flies faster and has a supportive role. It does not seek enemies but allies.
- Allies receive a 22.5 high hit point advantage in the form of a Void overshield upon contact.
The armor Exo gives your moths an independent intelligence upgrade. As players have discovered, depending on how close you are to allies or enemies, different moths appear.
- If there are no enemies nearby, two Void moths are created.
- If enemies are nearby and you and your allies need no healing, two Arc moths appear.
- If enemies are nearby and you and your allies are a bit low on health, one Arc moth and one Void moth appear.
Currently, players are discovering more and more of these effects. For example, your moths can trigger fleeting projectiles. The Exo glaive “Vexcalibur” probably turns half an overshield in close combat into a full one. An additional bonus is that the super of the Strand Hunter “Widow’s Silk” allows you three instead of two of these beneficial moth grenade charges.
This weapon with the new Exo is therefore undoubtedly one of the combinations worth exploring and maximizing in Season 22.
Damage-Utility Options Will Become More Common
Smart weapons are more interesting: If you like these synergies between a weapon and armor exotics, or the idea of receiving damage and other benefits, then we have good news.
Cool combat combos are something that Bungie wants to bring more often into the game in the future.
- It started in 2022 with the Warlocks with their poison symbiosis from the hand cannon “Dorn” or the submachine gun “Osteo Striga” with the Exo gloves “Necrotic Grips”.
- In Season 22, the Titan aspect “War Banner” increases melee and sword damage and regularly heals nearby allies.
- In “The Final Form” in 2024, two of the three new light supers will also focus on team play
- Void Titans will then be able to throw axes that explode and can be picked up by allies.
- Solar Warlocks can enhance their allies’ weapon damage with sentient solar flames.
It seems there is still a lot of room for weapons and exotics that provide various types of utility. And Bungie will according to Game Director Joe Blackburn pay more attention to “how important the utility for the player is” in the future regarding weapons, than to how much damage they deal.
How do you like the weapon? And what do you think of this approach for more damage-utility options? Do such synergies with builds and exotic weapons make the game more interesting for you? Or do you not care at all about sharing benefits with your teammates? We look forward to your opinion in the comments.
It is quite possible that this Exo combo will also be used in the raid race this weekend:
