In the MMO shooter Destiny , the patch yesterday brought new emotes, shaders, and a sparrow.
Last Thursday, Bungie said, they plan to launch a “Refer-a-friend” program during the Christmas season, a friend referral program. Some would already see hints of it with the next patch.
This is indeed the case: Two new emotes, one shader, and one emblem have been in the game since yesterday and can already be viewed in the corresponding kiosks. However, they cannot be obtained yet.
The items are:
- The shader Infinity Bond
- The emblem Sign of Infinity
- The sparrow EV-34 Infinity
- The gesture Duo Dance
- The gesture High-Five
You can see the gestures and where to find the items in this video:
Yes, will they only be available at Christmas?
While it is not official, it is quite certain that the two emotes are tied to the “Refer-a-friend” program. And therefore, one can expect that they will only be available at Christmas when the “Refer-a-friend” program is active. Especially the emotes are designed to be executed face-to-face by two players.
In the game, it says you must complete The Tale of Two Guardians.
What must be done to get the new emotes in Destiny? – What is “The Tale of Two Guardians?”
A quest called “A Tale of Two Guardians” has been found in the database. To complete this, you must finish a story mission “together with a connected friend,” go on patrol together, and win a Crucible match.
After that, you need to reach level 40, and as a reward, there is a legendary weapon.
Afterwards, the dynamic duo should complete a heroic story mission and a heroic strike. For this, the two emotes should be given as a reward.
The final task is to complete a Nightfall strike. The reward for this is unknown. It is quite possible that the shader and the sparrow can be obtained during this.
Whether all this works live, we do not know. It is at least in the database.
And how do you get a friend?
How exactly the program will work is currently still a mystery.. It is supposed to become active during the Christmas season. Bungie expects a wave of new, inexperienced players in Destiny. Apparently, players who take on these “Christmas newcomers” will be rewarded.
In other games, a refer-a-friend program works by inviting friends (or at least acquaintance or people you wish a gambling problem) via email, who can then download a demo version for free. If they later decide to buy the game, the “referrer” receives certain bonus gifts.
