Warning, potential spoilers! Read on at your own risk!
What is the quest and the exotic about? Currently, Destiny 2 is in the relatively fresh Season 13. Alongside the roadmap and the trailer, a still-secret exotic quest has been teased. However, there hasn’t been anything concrete.
Recently, though, dataminers found initial info about the still-secret exotic that will be the reward for this quest. Now they have dug up more details – about the reward and the quest itself. Here is a summary of what is currently known.
“Presage” quest and “Dead Man’s Tale” exotic – What we know so far
Keep in mind: These are not officially confirmed details. So take it with a grain of caution.
What is known about the quest: The secret exotic quest and the accompanying mission is apparently called Presage and takes place aboard the Cabal ship Glykon Volatus. It is said to have belonged to Emperor Calus. It vanished without a trace but is expected to appear soon in the Reef and drift around there deserted.
Here is a first look at the ship:
However, from there a Guardian sends out a distress signal, which both we and the Cabal subsequently investigate. In short: If we help him get off the ship, he will give us his rifle – the quest reward. Empress Caiatl is apparently even set to assist us in the investigation.
The full quest experience is expected to span several weeks, during which Guardians will revisit the ominous ship repeatedly (it will probably receive its own node in the navigator menu) and piece together and experience a story about the captain, the cargo, and the darkness.
What is known about the exotic reward: As mentioned earlier, the reward will likely be a new exotic weapon. If the findings are accurate, it is apparently set to be a new kinetic scout rifle named “Dead Man’s Tale”.
This will be a cowboy-style lever-action rifle, appropriately crafted by Tex Mechanica, but until now unknown to the Vanguard.
The exotic perk of the weapon is expected to be called “Cranial Spike” and will increase damage and reload speed when landing precision hits with the scout.
An appropriate exotic masterwork catalyst has already been discovered. As a masterwork, Dead Man’s Tale will then be able to fire quickly and accurately from the hip. The catalyst can apparently be leveled up solely through kills with the weapon, but also through “hidden chests” aboard the Glykon.
In Eververse, an ornament for the new exotic scout is also expected to be available soon alongside the quest, and an image of it has even been discovered.
This should already provide a good first hint at the weapon’s appearance.
What do you think so far about the upcoming quest and the new weapon exotic? Does it excite you for more, and are you looking forward to exploring the mysterious abandoned Cabal ship for its secrets? Or does all of this leave you completely cold?
