In Season 22, Destiny 2 added three new Strand aspects. Each has its strengths, but the Warlock’s Strand aspect is probably the most popular because it is not only absurdly powerful but also revolutionizes the way Warlocks behave in the game.
As noted by YouTuber Fallout Plays via Twitter, the deactivation is likely due to the fact that the aspect could be insta-terminated with a glaive melee attack, which “certainly was not intended and could easily be exploited.”

These Strand abilities are now new: Bungie has added more aspects to its latest ability “Strand” in Season 22. A total of three – one for each class.
- The Hunter received “Whirling Maelstrom,” creating a fierce, swirling mass of Strand fibers that automatically seeks targets and deals damage, also emitting corrosive projectiles when shot.
- The Titan receives the “War Banner” and becomes the healer. The Strand Banner radiates energy that regularly heals nearby allies and increases melee and sword damage.
- The Warlock has received “Weave Walk.” He can now move within the Strand’s realm and becomes extremely damage-resistant. While you are in the Weave, you also generate ready-to-use Threads.
In particular, the Hunter and Warlock aspects are currently very popular and have proven to be absurdly strong after the first player tests. However, the Warlock aspect is one of the currently most powerful tools for damage reduction in the entire game and makes you almost invincible in both PvE and PvP.

This is how strong the new Warlock aspect is: For players, especially the Warlock aspect was a real surprise when they tried it. Because for just one melee attack, there is an absurd damage resistance and extremely quickly generating Strand Threads. Both in PvE and PvP.
- In PvE, “Weave Walk” provides about 95% damage reduction for a melee attack. Your Warlock is also ignored by all enemies in Weave mode, granting you complete immunity.
- In PvP, it works similarly well. Here you have about 90% damage reduction and are thus also hard to kill in Weave mode.
- In addition to this practical effect, your Threads come into play. With the 3 melee charges, you can let your little Strand aphids do the work. It should be noted that Bungie has made the little helpers stronger in Season 22.
In Weave mode, about every 4 seconds melee charges are consumed for these advantages.
Does the Warlock aspect have any downsides? Yes. Its downside is that you are basically a ghost. This means you cannot interact, draw weapons, or revive while in Weave mode. You must also accept that you only get one fragment slot with this aspect.
For most Guardians, however, this is a good compromise for full immunity. On top of that, the “Weave Walk” aspect is a fantastic tool for repositioning.
What does the community say about this overpower? Not only players are wondering whether Bungie really intended to create such a strong aspect. Destiny 2 content creators are also not really sure about it. Some are already expecting a deactivation or adjustment of the aspect.

All aspects are still active. So for now, you can use the new Strand aspects everywhere in Destiny 2 and have fun with them.
How to get the new Strand aspects? To obtain the new aspects, you first need to own the Destiny 2 DLC “Lightfall” and complete the Nimbus quest “Unveiling the Veil.” Afterwards, you gain access to the Veil containment located at the bottom left of the Neomuna map.
If you have already completed all of that, the short mission “Revelation” should be available to you since Season 22. To complete it, you must travel back to the Veil containment and listen to the latest audio protocol. After that, you can return to the “Hall of Heroes” and acquire the new Strand aspects for free at the Pouka pond.
