The current mod system of Destiny 2 has not met fans’ expectations. The developers find it annoying too. With Forsaken, the mods will be revised. For the first time, there are now some details about it.

The current mod system of Destiny 2 is even considered terrible by the developers. With the Forsaken expansion, the mod system will change on September 4th. In an exclusive article from Game Informer, Bungie elaborates on some details of the mod revision. We present to you on Mein MMO what the studio has revealed so far.
Mods should become more unique and interesting
Fewer mods: The number of mods in Destiny 2 will be reduced compared to the current state. Therefore, players will have fewer modifications to collect overall.
Mods should become more unique: The revised mods are expected to be more interesting. With Forsaken, the mods are intended to be worth using. Bungie staff has emphasized this multiple times.

Mods will become more specialized: The new mods will be tailored to different play styles and weapons and can only be used on specific firearms or for specific classes. For example, the article mentions mods that improve hip fire, precision in the air, or damage to vehicles.
No more +5 with Forsaken
No more power level points: Furthermore, the mods will no longer grant the five additional points for the Guardians’ power level but only the respective gameplay bonuses. The power level mechanics will be abolished for the mods with the Forsaken expansion.
Getting mods back when dismantling: Additionally, it should be possible to get mods back when dismantling equipment. If the mods are interesting, it would even add an extra appeal to unnecessary equipment, as there would be a chance to obtain needed or interesting mods when dismantling.
What kind of mods would you like to see for weapons and armor in Destiny 2? Are the already known mods far enough for you?
