In Destiny 2, the Guardians are on the trail of a secret that leads to a new weapon.
At the Lighthouse on Mercury, there is a weapon forge. With it, 11 exclusive weapons can be forged. It is known that there are 11 weapons because Bungie confirmed during the livestream that there are 11, and 11 glyphs can be activated on a wall in the Lighthouse that represent these weapons.
The curious thing is: There are only 10 new Osiris-Vex weapons found in the databases. You can get these weapons by completing Lost Prophecies, which are all numbered – from 1 to 10. So what about the eleventh weapon?
The players have since scoured the databases and found an eleventh Lost Prophecy within it. However, it does not have a number, but is called “Lost Prophecy, Another Verse”. Its item description contains a strange riddle: “A story that is different: The thread unrolls against time. The one whom the Speaker loved the most must have the perfect paradox.”
Most of you will have little to make of this riddle. However, it gets interesting now: Since the Curse of Osiris, a new weapon has been in the databases that no one has yet obtained. And this is called “Perfect Paradox”:”
Perfect Paradox and the 14th Holy
Perfect Paradox is a rapid-fire, legendary shotgun with full-auto capabilities. It has no extraordinary perks. The fixed perk is called Rampage, which temporarily increases damage on kills.
But how do you get this weapon?
There is still no answer to this question. It is speculated that you will receive the Last Prophecy once you have crafted all other 10 forge weapons. And with this prophecy, you will then obtain the Perfect Paradox. However, this is not confirmed.
And it gets even more mysterious: In the item description of Perfect Paradox, there are several sentences attributed to the 14th Holy. He writes that he could not find Osiris. That the Vex developed a way to drain the light from him. Furthermore, he addresses a specific person who is said to have created the Perfect Paradox:
“All I have left is this weapon. The Cryptarchs say that you created it yourself. That you forged it in the Infinite Forge out of scrap and light and pure willpower. I will ensure that it comes back to you. When you gave it to me, I swore that I would follow your example. And I am still practicing it.” – The 14th Holy
Who is the 14th Holy anyway?
Who the 14th Holy is addressing here can only be speculated. However, the first question arises: Who is the 14th Holy anyway?
Most Destiny 1 veterans among you will have heard the name before. There was an exotic Titan Helmet in Destiny 1 called “Helm of the 14th Holy”. As luck would have it, this helmet returned with Curse of Osiris in Destiny 2.
The 14th Holy was an Exo Titan known for boldly confronting the Fallen and defeating Solkis, the Kell of the House of Devils. There is said to have never been another Guardian so beloved by the people.
He was a strong supporter of Osiris and helped ensure Osiris became the Commander of the Vanguard. After Osiris was exiled, the 14th Holy set out to find Osiris on Mercury.
Since that mission to Mercury, however, nothing more has been heard or seen of the 14th Holy. But as indicated in the item description of the Perfect Paradox, he could not fulfill his mission and was defeated by the Vex.
Recently, an interesting discovery gained a lot of attention in the reddit forum. In the Mercury adventure “The Up and Up”, you travel through the Infinite Forest into a dark future. There, a wall with a small hole was discovered. If you look through this hole and aim with a sniper to zoom in, you see a lifeless body floating in a room: It is now suspected that this could be the 14th Holy. That he was searching for Osiris in the Infinite Forest and met his end there. In any case, it is very curious that a body is floating there.
So what remains? We know that there is an eleventh prophecy that relates to the Perfect Paradox. We know that there is still a secret shotgun called “Perfect Paradox”. And we know that the Perfect Paradox is linked to the 14th Holy, who is presumably hovering a little in the Infinite Forest.
Therefore, it could be that the Prophecy Quest leads us into the Infinite Forest, where we will then gain access to the room with the body and thus obtain the Perfect Paradox. That would again be a nice weapon quest, of which there are so few in Destiny 2.
However, this can only be speculated.
