The new Stasis element in Destiny 2 is extremely powerful, but also causes quite a bit of trouble. Bungie is therefore providing nerfs, especially affecting the popular Warlock.
On November 10, Destiny 2: Beyond Light introduced the Stasis element into the game. The new ice abilities brought many new playstyles and fresh wind into the sandbox.
These problems arise from Stasis: The first new element in 6 years has also brought some issues into the Destiny universe.
- Especially PvP has become a nightmare for many – many Guardians complain about the constant freezing and their helplessness against it
- But there were also problems in PvE: even raid bosses and immune enemies melt away in seconds due to Stasis
On the evening of November 19, Patch 3.0.0.3 was released. It addressed Stasis in general, but specifically targeted the new Shadebinder Warlock.

Here are the detailed changes to Stasis in Beyond Light
This is different about Stasis: The Stasis exploit, which made even raid bosses fall instantly, has now been fixed. Therefore, nothing stands in the way of the start of the new raid on November 21.
However, there are also changes that you will feel in the fight against Stasis:
- If you are frozen by Stasis skills, you can break out at the press of a button – but this inflicts high damage on you. This break-out damage has been reduced from 110 to 90 – a Guardian has about 200 health.
- Additionally, the resilience status now provides a stronger reduction of break-out damage (maximum value at 90 resilience)
- Cold Snap seeker speed is now 23% slower
Only in PvP, i.e. the Crucible, there were further changes. These affect the duration that an opposing Guardian is frozen:
- The freeze duration of Cold Snap (grenade) is now 1.35 seconds (previously 4.75 seconds)
This is what Shadebinder Warlocks must now deal with
In our poll about the starter class in Beyond Light on MeinMMO, it was shown that the Shadebinder Warlock is the most popular among you. Therefore, many of you now must be strong, as nerfs are coming.
Here are the nerfs: Penumbral Explosion is the Stasis melee ability of the Warlock. In it, you fire an ice projectile with their staff. The ability has received several nerfs:
- The projectile speed has been reduced by 20%
- The range is now 16 meters (previously 28 meters)
- 16 m)
- The freeze duration is now 1.35 seconds (previously 4.75 seconds) – keep in mind that the duration is only different in PvP
The Stasis super Winter’s Wrath has also been nerfed:
- The maximum duration of the super is now 24 seconds (previously 30 seconds)
- The heavy attack (the shockwave) now only affects Guardians who are frozen (only in PvP)
- However, the light attack (the 3 ice projectiles) now costs 4.5% super energy (previously 5%)
Bungie further states about the Stasis changes that they are increasingly focusing on separate adjustments for PvE and PvP. Like with the freeze duration, for example. The goal is to only adjust where it hurts.
The Destiny developer further states (via This Week at Bungie), that “when it comes to developing new abilities, we believe that the risk of releasing something too sharp is better than playing it safe and bringing something that doesn’t excite you.” The community’s feedback is being watched very closely.
