In Destiny 2 you can now secure the first heavy machine gun. The final part of the mysterious murder quest is live and rewards Guardians with the Thunderlord at the end. We explain how you can successfully complete the quest.
What leaks had announced weeks ago has now proven to be true. With the weekly reset on November 13th, the third part of the festival quest went live and actually took Guardians back to the Cosmodrome on Earth, where many Guardians started their journey in Destiny. At the end of this nostalgic trip, there was the first heavy MG in Destiny 2 – the Thunderlord.
How to get the Thunderlord in Destiny 2
This is what you need to do first: The first example of this new weapon category (in Destiny 2) is behind a three-part quest series that started about two weeks ago. To tackle the last step, you must first successfully complete the first two steps. Both are quite short and should not take too much time if you haven’t done them yet.

Once you have completed these quest steps, you can focus on the third and final part.
This is how the last quest step works: To get the last step of this quest, you first need to visit Amanda Holiday at the Tower. Talk to her, and then the task will continue for you.
Amanda will send you as part of the mission “The Lost Cryptarch” back into the Lost Sector Whisperfall in the Outskirts area of the EDZ on Earth. There, a Fallen teleport field has been found, and you should check where it leads.
The mission will be prominently displayed on the location map and is hard to miss. Fight your way through the Lost Sector or simply run through to the last room, where the boss is located. You can completely ignore or eliminate this boss. However, he is absolutely irrelevant for quest progression.
Simply activate the Fallen teleporter in this room, which is marked with a mission symbol. This will take you back to the Cosmodrome on Earth. From there, follow the mission progression and the corresponding markers. The mission progression is self-explanatory. In the end, you will encounter the killer of Master Ives, a Fallen boss that must be defeated.
Once you have done that, you need to escape from the Cosmodrome. For this, take the same way back. Once you arrive at the end, you need to interact with the visibly marked Fallen teleporter again, and the mission is complete. Now you just need to visit Amanda Holiday at the Tower.
The reward: At Amanda you will then receive the last engram from Master Ives. After that, you only have to go to the Tower Cryptarch Master Rahool. Once you have decrypted this exotic engram, you will receive the first heavy machine gun from Destiny 2 – the Thunderlord.
Actually, the category of heavy MGs is supposed to come to the game in December, but Bungie apparently wants to give Guardians a little taste of what to expect.
Important: The Thunderlord is only available this way until November 27, 2018. After that, it will be available randomly from exotic engrams.

Hidden scannable objects: In the Cosmodrome on Earth, Bungie has placed some scannable objects that are likely to evoke further nostalgia feelings, especially among Destiny veterans. All these objects are located outside the wall of the Cosmodrome. It is recommended to first complete the mission and scan them calmly on the way back.

What do the fans say? The nostalgic trip to the Cosmodrome has the community divided. Many players consider it a cool experience that evokes old memories and reminds them of their first steps in Destiny. Others see this final step of the murder quest as too short, uninspired, and label it as cheap content recycling.
Also in the comments on MeinMMO, this is evident. But aside from what people think of the quest – the community is enthusiastic about the Thunderlord. On Reddit and YouTube, players are overflowing with praise for this first example of the new weapon category.
