The new, big DLC Beyond Light for Destiny 2 is about to be released. We at MeinMMO wanted to know from you before the launch if you will buy this fine piece. Here are your answers.
What was it about? It’s almost time. The next chapter of Destiny 2 starts with the dark DLC Beyond Light, which lures players to the moon Europa.
In a survey we wanted to know from you guys at MeinMMO if you will buy Beyond Light. And you answered us in large numbers.
More than 50% of you have pre-ordered Beyond Light
This is how you voted: The survey ended on November 10th at 12:00. Each reader could cast exactly one vote. A total of 2810 readers participated:
- Yes, I even pre-ordered: 56.51%
- I will wait and see: 22.38%
- No, I definitely will not buy Beyond Light: 14.31%
- Yes: 6.8%
Even though Destiny 2 has gone through some turbulent years and seasons, more than half of you decided to pre-order Beyond Light. A total of 63.11% of positive votes were cast for the DLC.
About a third of you, however, remain skeptical. 22.38% want to wait and see how Beyond Light is received. They want to ensure the hype settles down before considering a purchase.
14.31% have firmly decided against Beyond Light. You have extensively posted your reasons for and against the purchase in the comments.
Between Excitement and Skepticism
The mood in the comments was a bit more mixed than the survey numbers might suggest.
This is why you are getting Beyond Light: Among the readers who decided to make a purchase, the reasons were often quite simple: Destiny 2 is fun for you and you want to see how it continues in the DLC.

Destiny remains my absolute favorite game. It doesn’t mean I always play it, but I always come back to it.

Players who pre-ordered Beyond Light also reportedly purchased the special or collector’s editions and are looking forward to what awaits them in the DLC.
However, there were also returnees in the comments who had not played Destiny 2 for a long time and are now curious about Beyond Light.
I stopped playing for a year and was very positively surprised by how the game has developed when I cautiously checked in four weeks ago. Now I’m fully back and looking forward to Beyond Light. Let’s see how long it keeps me entertained.

This is why you are not getting Beyond Light: However, another part of the MeinMMO readers is cautious. Some want to wait a bit and see what exactly Beyond Light has to offer and how content for Destiny 2 will continue after the DLC.
I will wait to see what content will really be available.
Aside from Europa, I don’t see much. Hardly any new Strikes, PVP maps, etc. Also, the statement that Forsaken-level will never be reached again is dispiriting.

At least Destiny 2 is supposed to receive new content for at least two more years, and Beyond Light is just the first part of a trilogy.
The hype around a new DLC is also cited as a reason for waiting. They want to look at Beyond Light when the excitement has settled:
I will wait until the hype for the season start has calmed down. Three to four weeks should definitely suffice. If the Guardian community is already stuck in “level some seasonal item with seasonal currency” mode again, then it won’t be bought.

Cyberpunk 2077 and AC Valhalla as direct competition for gaming time
But other games also play a role for you. Since November and December have many new releases, not least due to the new consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X, you want to play something else as well. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 were mentioned as examples.
Another part is disappointed with Destiny 2 and has not been convinced to return to the game by the new DLC.
No. The season model has finally extinguished the light for me.
I do not rule out that I might return at some point, but probably not in the foreseeable future.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate helps out
Some of you also indicated that they will not buy Beyond Light, but will still receive it automatically through their Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Since it’s included in the Game Pass, I will play it. Therefore, I recently switched from the PS version to Xbox.
