Today Destiny 2 will release the major armor and weapons update for the mid-season. The update will not only adjust two exotic armors that were a bit too heavy to counter in PvP. There will also be some weapon adjustments, where you might notice differences in controllability.

20:36: The update is rolling out now. Bungie seems to have found the error. The download on PC is 394.6 MB.
19:58: Halloween is still waiting. Bungie has not yet been able to identify the error. The downtime will remain in effect. Likely until 21:00, as the developer announced via Twitter/X, unless a green light comes in before that. You will learn first on MeinMMO when the new week starts.

16:21: Destiny 2 just went offline. In a few hours, you will be able to explore the changes for the mid-season update yourself. And of course, the Halloween event will start then.
What you need to know today: In Destiny 2, there are always changes to weapons, armors, abilities, and thus to the game’s meta. So if you’re new to Destiny 2, it’s important to keep an eye on these changes in the game. Some have a significant impact on the overall gameplay.
Today not only starts the Halloween event. Destiny 2 is also getting its major mid-season update for Season 22. As always, the complete list of announced changes is long. But here are the most important highlights:
- Several exotic armors will be revised because they are too dominant.
- Adaptive and automatic rifles with high impact will receive a boost, while submachine guns will become harder to control.
- Pulse rifles with high impact will remain the same, while Bungie is buffing the aggressive ones a bit without increasing their damage.
- Additionally, two perk advantages will be adjusted, and one of them will hurt grenade fans.
Before that can become active in the game, Bungie must first take the servers down. MeinMMO will tell you in this article what else will be adjusted, when this will happen today, and how long the server downtime for mid-season update 7.2.5 will last.
Maintenance on October 17 – All times for server downtime
These times are important today: Bungie has published the exact information about the update via Twitter/X. We will inform you accordingly about the downtime in Germany. The planned downtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
This is the exact schedule for maintenance:
- The background maintenance will begin on all platforms at 15:00.
- At around 16:15, the servers will go offline. Players will then be kicked out of the game.
- During the downtime, Bungie will release the mid-season update 7.2.5. It will be rolled out gradually so that players on all platforms can download it.
- Destiny 2 is expected to be back online at 19:00, and you can try to log in.
- The maintenance will continue in the background until 21:00.
Also, keep in mind that third-party applications as well as the official companion app may also not be accessible correctly for a while, so you cannot use them.
What is changing with mid-season update 7.2.5 in Season 22
As always, Bungie has very thoroughly explained in a This Week in Destiny
why certain changes were made in this major update.
However, we summarize this long list here in brief sentences.
- A variety of exotic armor pieces will be adjusted. These include the “Antaeus Ward” and the Hunter Exo “Ahamkara’s Spine.” For some players, the PvP nerf is completely acceptable. However, the nerf for “Ahamkara’s Spine” unfortunately also applies in PvE and this should, according to some players, simply not be the case.
- For fans of adaptive and automatic rifles with high impact, there is good news. This weapon category will receive a reduced range and a reduced damage fall-off scalar of the sights as well as slight base damage increases.
- The damage bonuses of hand cannons in the checkmate modifier are reduced. They drop from 10% compared to the normal crucible to 7%.
- Submachine guns will receive an increased recoil.
- Pulse rifles will receive a decreased damage fall-off scalar.
- Fusion rifles will have a slight reduction in minimum damage threshold.
- Sniper rifles will receive a decreased body shot damage and significantly increased critical multipliers.
- Shotguns will have lower accuracy penalties in the air after the update.

Furthermore, there are also bugs on Bungie’s to-do list that must be addressed and have already been reported by players:
- Some weapons purchased from Banshee-44 may have a different masterwork than what was displayed.
- The Osmosis perk does not activate successfully on all weapons.
- The card buff “Ascendancy” of the Great Arcana does not apply Scorch to enemies.
- Suppression or fright effects may sometimes target allies in Savathûn’s Pillar.
- Unacquired exotic armor ornaments are sometimes incorrectly displayed as available on the appearance screen but cannot be equipped.
- Scorn swords occasionally consume the light of players but cannot be picked up in Crota’s End.
- The Hunter chest piece “Photonic Vest” is currently not available for transmogs.
- The Lightfall event of the Vex combat team, to acquire current exotics, has a problem. It may not start even though the flag has already announced the event. This leads to players often traveling to Neomuna in vain to participate in the public event.
- Also not to forget: Player name changes are not infinitely adjustable via bungie.net. Several “number guardians” are still waiting for the option to change their player name again, instead of receiving the message “You have no name changes available.”
