The Worldline Zero presented the Guardians in Destiny 2 with a puzzle last week. It took a long time for fans to figure out what the first step of the sword on the way to the exotic masterpiece looks like. Now fans have also mastered the second step. This is how the mammoth task continues.
The first step was challenging: Last week, fans randomly discovered what the first step for the masterpiece upgrade of the Worldline Zero looks like. You had to hit the final boss after the seventh wave of the Escalation Protocol with the exotic sword as soon as its shield was down.
This rewarded you with 20% progress in leveling the catalyst and additionally a special item – the “Worldline Ideasthesia: Anarkhiia”. This was one of five items from the Worldline Ideasthesia series discovered in the Destiny 2 database.
Players had a theory: Fans then speculated that the progress of the masterpiece upgrade was linked to the five bosses of the Escalation Protocol. From each boss, there should be an item that grants a further 20% progress, provided you hit the boss with the special attack of the sword.
This theory now seems to be confirmed.

Step 2 on the Path to the Masterpiece of Worldline Zero
Once again it’s Escalation Protocol: To achieve further progress in leveling the catalyst, you must dive into the new PvE event this week. Again, you need to fight your way through to the final boss and this time hit him with the Tesseract attack of the Worldline Zero.
Hit Correctly: It’s important that you hit the current end boss at its weak spot on the back (protrusion) – otherwise, no progress will be made! This sounds easier than it actually is – depending on the course of the battle, it may require numerous attempts to hit the weak spot correctly.
If you hit the boss correctly, you will receive the second item from the Worldline Ideasthesia series – the “Worldline Ideasthesia: Cavalry”. At the same time, progress increases by another 20%. If you were also successful last week, you are now at a total of 40% of the task.
The fans’ theory seems to be coming true: It is evident that during the quest, it is indeed about hitting each of the five weekly rotating final bosses at the respective weak spot with the Tesseract move of the exotic sword. This rewards you with another item from the Worldline Ideasthesia series and each provides 20% progress.
What’s next? If the system is maintained, you should reach 100% of the task after defeating five different bosses. Whether there will be another step afterwards is still unknown. Like with the Polaris Lance quest, this task is tied to a time lock. The first Guardians can obtain the masterpiece version of the Worldline Zero in about two and a half weeks.
How far are you with this task? Are you still looking for the catalyst or have you already mastered the second step?
