Bungie recently presented the content of the new Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2 during a stream on Twitch and YouTube. With many new features expected that are being actively discussed by the community, we at MeinMMO wondered if Bungie could convince you to remain a Guardian or come back.
This is what many have been waiting for: On August 24, 2021, new content for Destiny 2 was presented during a stream on Twitch and YouTube – the Season 15 as well as the next major expansion “The Witch Queen“.
How is the new expansion The Witch Queen being received so far?
This is the mood after the reveal: The showcase for the reveal has now been watched by almost a million people (over 44,000 upvotes), the Witch Queen trailer itself has already garnered more than half a million views (as of 08/26) and over 22,000 likes, indicating massive interest in the new expansion. The comments on the trailer and reveal are predominantly filled with praise, enthusiasm, and anticipation – whether on YouTube or Reddit.
What is being praised? Especially praised are the diverse settings with a completely new area and the upcoming weapon crafting feature. Finally being able to create your own God Rolls – many are really looking forward to that. But also the upgrade of the light classes to Stasis level excites some players.
The Hive enemies, who can also use the Light like us Guardians, are causing various discussions and are being eagerly awaited – however, numerous fans are still unsure how much this will actually impact the game in the end. Will they be present in the Nightfalls? Will there be new mods to suppress abilities? All of this will become clear by February 2022 at the latest.
What is being criticized? There is also criticism (for example, again around recycling) – though it feels minimal – with most of it directed not at the new addon, but rather at the “30 Years of Bungie” package that was introduced at the same time. Overall, positive sentiment and anticipation surrounding The Witch Queen clearly prevail.
You missed it? If you missed the reveal – this trailer should give you a compact overview of the most important aspects of the upcoming expansion:

My goodness, I am blown away. Witch Queen looked very, very nice. Even though we know they can make trailers. But the setting is exactly my thing!
Well, Season 15 promises to be the best ever. I hope I won’t be disappointed.
