In Destiny 2 today, on September 3rd, the servers are down. Update 2.5.2.2 / 1.40 is being deployed to enhance your gaming experience.
These are the important times on September 3rd: According to the revised roadmap for Season 7, which has been extended until October 1st, Guardians can expect an update in early September. Today, September 3rd, it’s time. Update 2.5.2.2 will be deployed – for this, maintenance with server downtime is necessary.
- Maintenance will start at 6 PM. Some services on Bungie.net will no longer be available on the web and in the app.
- At 6:45 PM, Destiny 2 will be taken offline. You will not be able to log in. If you are still in the game, you will be kicked. PS4, Xbox One, and PC are affected.
- At 7:05 PM, the servers should come back online. Hotfix 2.5.2.2 will be available on all platforms and in all regions.
- Maintenance should be finished by 8 PM. Until then, login difficulties may occur.
Update 7:10 PM – the servers are still offline. The update hasn’t appeared for us yet. However, you can find the patch notes below in the article.
Update 7:20 PM: The update is now live. You are required to download around 128 MB.
Keep in mind that the times mentioned above are not set in stone. The server downtime may end earlier or later, as Bungie has often surprised us in the past years. If you have problems downloading update 2.5.2.2 on PS4 or Xbox One, Bungie recommends restarting the console.
What changes today? – Patch Notes Update 1.40
These changes are known: According to Bungie, update 2.5.2.2 focuses on “Quality of life” – improving gameplay comfort – making your Guardian life more enjoyable and convenient.
The full patch notes are now known. The main new feature is that the pinnacle grenade launchers “The Summit” and “Wendigo GL3” will become more accessible – the quests will thus be easier.
- For Wendigo, grenade launcher kills will yield twice as much progress for the quest as before, grenade launcher multi-kills grant 50% more progress, and the penalty for dying while reaching the goal of 15,000 points is removed, and completing playlist strikes grants a significant amount of progress.
- For The Summit, the number of required multi-kill points will be reduced from 200 to 75, the number of medal points from 100 to 25, and the points earned in the competitive playlist will be further increased compared to other PvP modes.

Additional changes:
- The stack limit for planetary materials, weapon master materials, Vanguard tokens, Crucible tokens, and Iron Banner tokens will be increased from 999 to 9999.
- Braytech schematics are no longer limited to 1 per day.
- Braytech schematics have a 25% drop chance when opening a Rasputin data cache.
- The four Braytech weapons needed for the Wanderer title now have a greater chance of obtaining those you do not have yet.
- Enemies in Reckoning deal less damage and have less health.
- In Reckoning and Gambit Prime, drop rates for weapons will be increased. At Rank 3 in Reckoning, the chances are higher. Additionally, bad luck protection will be reinforced – meaning if you complete several matches without rewards, your chance of receiving one after the next match will increase.
- The Forsaken character boost is no longer available for purchase.
- Furthermore, a problem in Eververse will be fixed that prevented items from being refunded after transferring between characters.
