If the seasonal activity in Destiny 2 has been too easy for you so far, then try the legendary variant. As of this week, the Shattered Realm has a new difficulty level and rotating modifiers that pack a punch.
Players in Destiny 2 are currently celebrating the Festival of the Lost, where you can earn dino armor, a new pulse rifle, and loads of spooky and “goose” honking community cosmetics.
However, it should also be mentioned that Bungie has added a new difficulty level and modifiers for the seasonal activity “Shattered Realm” with the update on October 12. Next week, this will also apply to the “Astral Alignment”.
This will heat you up in the legendary modes:
- Player matchmaking will be disabled in the legendary Astral Alignment.
- The recommended power is 1320.
- There will be additional modifiers every day.
- You will encounter Overload and Unstoppable champions.
- Your equipment will be locked. You cannot change weapons and armor.
- Revive is active. This means returning to orbit if everyone dies or a phase is not completed.
- Match Game is active. Enemy shields can only be broken with the correct element.
How difficult is the activity on Legend
The new difficulty level raises the power requirements. It includes stronger enemies and champions. Your team must choose the right weapons. Only then can you coordinate effectively in a 3-player fireteam. On top of that, there are nasty negative modifiers.
These are the weekly rotating Taken modifiers:
- Rejection: Taken Vandals summon their shields significantly more often.
- Epitaph: Taken Knights generate decay geysers when defeated.
- Empath: Improved radar, you suffer higher melee damage.
With the reset on October 19, Bungie will also make the difficulty level “Legend” available for the four-part “Astral Alignment”.
Only tougher is the Grandmaster Nightfall: The currently hardest PvE challenge in Destiny 2 goes even further. Succeeding here demands everything from you. Additionally, a competitive mode is active. MeinMMO has already put together the most helpful tips for this activity:
Better rewards for successful completion
If your fireteam succeeds, better loot awaits you. Bungie emphasizes that these rewards are more than worth the effort. The stats of the drops from the legendary mode give you gear with high attributes. So feel free to challenge the stronger enemies.
Starting next week, as soon as this mode is active, there will be a bonus chest for completing on Legendary in the Astral Alignment. You can expect a total of three chests to loot there.
Good news for all unlucky players: If the catalyst for Agers Scepter hasn’t dropped for you yet, Bungie has greatly increased the chances in the “Legend” difficulty level that you will find the catalyst in the additional bonus chest of the Astral Alignment.
Have you already tried the legendary mode of the Shattered Realm? Or are you more looking forward to next week when the four-part 6-player activity “Astral Alignment” goes online in hard mode as a small mini-raid?
