Last night, Destiny 2 Season 19 kicked off and the most notable highlight so far is a new exotic weapon that you can’t get right away. MyMMO explains how and when you can unlock Revision Zero and especially what makes it so special.
After a Season 18 that ended quite weakly, Guardians in Destiny 2 had high expectations for the new content of Season 19. Especially loyal Guardian souls are increasingly craving variety and the good old Bungie innovations.
Season 19 has been rather stingy so far, as it has not revealed any new armor exotics yet. However, we do know about 3 exotic weapons that Guardians can earn:
- The exotic submachine gun “The Manticore” comes from the season pass and features a 900 RPM as well as the perk “Gliding Fang”. Thanks to its anti-gravity repulsors, it allows Guardians to fly.
- In the new dungeon starting on December 9th, the Guardians also seem to be expecting an exotic weapon. If you want to know which one, check out light.gg.
- The third exotic weapon is “Revision Zero”, which will have several exotic benefits that can further increase the weapon’s power.
It was therefore not surprising that especially “Revision Zero” attracted the most attention in the first hours. Mainly because the associated quest is time-gated, meaning it is not available immediately and easily like “The Manticore”.
What makes the weapon so special? “Revision Zero” is an exotic pulse rifle in the heavy slot with a futuristic, foldable scope. As far as is currently known, it features a selectable firing mode between a four-shot burst or a stronger and more powerful two-shot burst.
- As the first hybrid weapon in Destiny 2, it combines the strengths of two rifles.
- It is likely to be a kinetic weapon.
Currently, according to gamerant, it is believed that Revision Zero does not allow the use of the sniper rifle mode once a player picks up special ammo. It is expected that it will instead charge sniper rifle ammo as an exotic property over time. For example, when the player achieves kills with the pulse rifle mode or deals a certain amount of damage.
It has a 450 RPM and deals 35 damage. With the exotic perk, you can achieve kills with the weapon and gather target data. This fills a progress bar. Once it’s full, holding the reload button switches the weapon to high-damage mode, where you can fire up to four shield-piercing shots and stun anti-barrier champions.
Moreover, “Revision Zero” will likely also be extremely flexible in other ways and set new standards in Destiny 2. It is, alongside the Osteo Striga, the second craftable exotic in Destiny 2.
Exotic benefits make the hybrid rifle four times more flexible: So far, exotic weapons in Destiny 2 have always had the option of a single catalyst that improved their properties. However, Revision Zero is said to offer 4 catalysts and can be crafted. Such a thing has not existed so far with weapons in this form in the loot shooter.
As YouTuber MoreConsole has found out, the exotic “Revision Zero” will offer these 4 catalysts:
- Outlaw
- Frenzy
- Timer
- Pressurized
Whether these names of the exotic benefits correspond with the known weapon perk properties and their characteristics remains to be seen.

How to get “Revision Zero” in Destiny 2
To get the new exotic weapon “Revision Zero”, Bungie sends the Guardians on a secret mission “More Than Just a Weapon” via Clovis Bray. You are supposed to gain access to the safest facility in the solar system as part of the season quest: the BrayTech orbital platform above the Last City. However, you will only get there if you have completed the first two weeks of the seasonal quest from Season 19.
This location is the already known raid location “Deep Stone Crypt” from the DLC “Beyond Light”. However, this new platform is above Europa and offers an insane view of the Traveler.
When is the exotic mission for “Revision Zero” available? Every week there will be different security levels that need to be overcome at various locations.
- Heist Battleground “Exoscience” on Jupiter’s moon Europa
- Heist Battleground “Luna” on Earth’s moon
- Heist Battleground “Polaris” on Mars
Once the Guardians breach deep enough into the facility, they will reach the weapon “Revision Zero”. This will be possible starting December 20, 2022, at 6:00 PM, directly after the weekly reset.
How do you obtain the exotic benefits for “Revision Zero”? Once the exotic quest is available, it will be the Guardians’ task in the following weeks to collect the catalysts for Revision Zero at the Legendary difficulty level.
This suggests that the characteristics will not all be available immediately, but will be gradually introduced into the game.
While players were able to quickly get their hands on the season pass exotic “The Manticore” and thus try it out, Revision Zero initially eludes full access. However, it is also something that piques Guardians’ curiosity about what is to come. And it is currently still unknown whether this is really all that Season 19 has to offer.
