In Destiny 2 the worlds are full of activities. Here is some in-game footage.
A few days ago, IGN released a video in which the heads of Destiny 2, Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy, talked about the idea behind the sequel. There was plenty of fresh footage in which the Sherlocks of the Guardian community discovered many interesting things.
Is this a “Lost Sector”?
For a few seconds, gameplay footage of the new Titan subclass “Sentinel” was visible. However, that’s not all there is to see:
At the bottom left of the screen, there is a note that a cache code has been obtained – a code that can be used to open a hideout. Many in the community are now certain that this scene takes place in a Lost Sector.
Lost Sectors are enemy dungeons in Destiny 2. They are said to contain unique bosses that protect treasures. Luke Smith once described these activities as going in, killing a boss, stealing the key, and then accessing the loot. Now many speculate that a “cache code” is needed to access the loot in a Lost Sector.
A map full of activities
In the IGN video, which we embed at the end of the article, the map of Nessus is briefly presented. Nessus is one of the four worlds in Destiny 2 – a planetoid transformed by the Vex:
Three different symbols are presented:
- The white crosshairs are treasure maps. What these treasure maps entail is not yet known. A few weeks ago, Smith revealed that there will be a new endgame activity called “Flashpoints”. These are said to be weekly missions where there will be plenty to do in specific locations in the worlds – Smith mentioned treasure maps and special monsters that will appear. Presumably, these treasure maps are related to the Flashpoints.
- The Adventures are indicated by the symbol of a sword. There are plenty of these on the map. The Adventures are short missions where players can learn more about the “Destiny 2” universe and the characters living within it. The rewards are also directly displayed on the map.
- Public Events will also be present in Destiny 2. You will now see directly which event it is and – particularly cool – when the event starts. This way, you won’t be wandering around the planet hoping that an event will begin at some point. The rewards, blue and purple engrams, will also be indicated.
- On the map, there are additional symbols that the cursor did not hover over. In the last image, a symbol showing a crown is displayed on the far right, slightly below the middle. In Destiny 1, this sign symbolized the next mission step that needed to be played.
- Below the crown symbol is another symbol: a circle with a triangle inside. Several of these can be found on the map. Most likely, these indicate various landing points where you can fast travel.
