Many Destiny 2 fans have already completed Lightfall and are setting out to complete their collection of gear and exotics through side quests and public events. We took a look at the overall duration and show you how long the latest expansion can keep you busy.
How long does the Lightfall campaign take? That completely depends on you, which difficulty levels you have chosen. You can choose the classic variant with easier enemies, while the legendary variant might keep you occupied longer.
On average, you can expect between 5 and 10 hours depending on the number of players, gear, experience, and difficulty level.
But we are only talking about the campaign here, meaning the main missions that mark the finale of the Light and Darkness saga. Once you’ve completed these, Lightfall doesn’t stop, as there are still more things to do.

Side Quests, Collections, and Weapons Extend the Time
How long do side quests take? This can’t be easily estimated, as each Guardian has their own pace. However, there are three new exotic quests that focus on acquiring the following jewels:
- Winterbite – Stasis Glaive
- Deterministic Chaos – Void MG
- Final Warning – Strand Hand Cannon
In the case of Deterministic Chaos, this quest can be started right after completing the campaign, while the other two quests can only be unlocked by completing additional tasks. The guides have been linked in the list.
In addition, Lightfall also offers a variety of weapons that can be acquired as blueprints as well as further exotic armors for each class that can be farmed.
If that isn’t enough, there is a seal and triumphs that you can also chase. Lastly, the subclass “Strand” must also be unlocked, which takes enough time as well.
Essentially, one could say that the campaign was just the tip of the iceberg, as there are many more things that you have set out to achieve.
Lastly, keep in mind: Depending on how positively or negatively you perceived Lightfall, take your time. Enjoy the time solo or with your friends and have fun in Neomuna, Strand, and the new exotics.
