Yesterday evening, a short trailer for Destiny 2 caused a stir in the community. Whether released too early or intended, the video leaks several weapons from Witch Queen, including a type of “worm launcher” that apparently uses living ammunition as well as new images of the glaive. We’ll tell you what else the trailer revealed.
Only about three weeks left until the release of the new expansion “The Witch Queen”. So far, players know quite a bit about the new story, but very little about the new weapons. Bungie has also been quite reserved about it.

Where does the leak come from? Surprisingly, it was a short web video ad for the “Witch Queen” expansion via Adsense, Google’s website monetization system, that shows players several new weapons in action. Apparently, this came a bit too early and was also regionally limited. It didn’t take long for well-known leakers, like Twitter user Liz, to share the clip, which is essentially an official promotional video from Bungie, with the community.
The fact that the Google ad was activated this early could indicate that a formal announcement of the weapons by Bungie will follow relatively soon with a video in better quality.
What can be seen in the trailer? In addition to the already known season weapon and the new weapon category glaive, two more weapons are visible. Obviously, a heavy exotic grenade launcher that maliciously shoots living worm babies.
The video also points out that the season pass is required. This means that players need both the DLC “The Witch Queen” and the current season pass for Season 16.
What the trailer reveals about the new weapons from Witch Queen
The first weapon in the trailer appears to be some kind of arc railgun/submachine gun hybrid that fires multiple shots in quick succession. Perhaps also a very special kind of linear fusion rifle.
The second weapon is the already confirmed exclusive exotic weapon from the “The Witch Queen – Deluxe Edition”.
The Exo submachine gun is named “Osteo Striga” and will come into play for owners of the set with catalyst and ornament. In the previous Witch Queen trailer at the Game Awards 2021, it was already seen that the submachine gun apparently has homing projectiles. Perhaps even a type of necrotic explosion with parasitic properties.
The third weapon is definitely exotic, as it apparently shoots living worm babies.
So far, Destiny 2 players have only known similar properties from the exotic grenade launcher “The Colony”. However, it shoots insectoid robot grenades that crawl on the ground and explode when a target is nearby. How the unusual ammunition behaves is not evident in the trailer.
Lastly, the trailer also shows the new weapon category “glaive” again. However, it looks a little different in this video than what we are used to from previous trailers. So far, we only know that the weapon is probably only craftable through the new weapon crafting system. The Destiny 2 community speculates that there could be three separate, class-specific glaives.

In fact, the blade positions of each glaive are a little different and you can see how the Titan can apparently change them even during combat. After that, he creates a kind of bubble with the glaive, which could very well be a Void suppression field.
The new weapon category glaive
The Warlock starts something that resembles the known noble shots of the hand cannon Lumina. And the Hunter also seems to receive some kind of arc explosion/grenade through the glaive.

What else does the video reveal? Besides the weapons, the particularly striking helmet of the Titan has been noticed. It has a bit of a skull look and you can see flames, as if the entire helmet is on fire. The arms of the Hunter, left of him, also appear unknown. Although this is not yet confirmed, it could already be first exotics from Witch Queen.
What does the Destiny 2 community say? Players are already actively discussing in the Destiny 2 Reddit about the new weapons. The trailer is at least much more exciting for them than the last official announcement regarding the rehashed strike-exclusive weapons in Season 16.
