Long faces for the launch of Destiny 2: the private PvP matches known from the original were missing at launch and are still not available in the sequel. With the upcoming DLC “Warmind,” private matches are finally set to return.
Destiny 2 not only completely revamped the PvP mode, but also missed a popular feature from its predecessor.
The private PvP matches, which were introduced to the Destiny universe after a long time in the first game with “Rise of Iron,” have yet to make it into the second installment of the series.
But this is about to change. As Bungie revealed in their latest developer blog, private matches are finally set to return with the second DLC “Warmind” on May 8.

Private matches return with Season 3
The private PvP games were only added to Destiny 1 with the second expansion “Rise of Iron” but quickly became very popular.
For example, custom tournaments were held and training was done for the upcoming Trials of Osiris. Guardians also held their own SRL races. After the “Dawning” event in 2016, Sparrow Racing was added to the private matches in the Crucible.

But the private matches also offered a lot for non-PvP players. The PvP maps could be selected to find the hidden dead ghosts on them. This way, Guardians secured these little lore pieces without the stress of a Crucible match.
When private matches return in Destiny 2, however, the new maps from the DLCs will only be available to those who purchased the add-ons. While the DLCs are no longer required to play the new maps in the player search, they are still necessary to select the maps in private matches.
