If you want to get extra loot from the Destiny 2 Kingsfall raid, you can take on one of the challenges. This week it is with the Ogre. MeinMMO gives you tips on how to complete the third raid challenge “Stunned Gaze” most easily.
What is a raid challenge? The so-called challenges in the raids of Destiny 2 are additional tasks that players can take on in the PvE endgame. They are fun and yield some extra loot. So more of the prestigious weapons and armor for everyone.
However, the challenge also restricts the normal, accustomed gameplay in a special way. Depending on which challenge is currently active, players must coordinate anew to master it in the end.
A different challenge is active each week, and it usually takes place in a specific raid encounter or phase. MeinMMO informs you every Tuesday during the weekly reset about which challenge it is and where it takes place.
In the raid “Kingsfall”, there are a total of five such encounters – the jumping sections are excluded from the challenges. They rotate every week, but not in random order.
How to succeed at the challenge: “Stunned Gaze”
Where does the challenge take place? The raid challenge “Stunned Gaze” takes place in the second phase of the Kingsfall raid with the Ogre Golgoroth.
In the past, you had to pick up special loot quests from Hawthorne, but that has changed. The challenge is automatically active at the start of the raid. You will see the relevant information in the bottom left corner when you start the raid.
The challenge sounds dangerous, as the Axion darts can now hit the entire team. You should always pay attention to whether the debuff “Unstable Light” is activated, which could cause you to take additional damage. Other than these details, the challenge does not fundamentally differ from the normal routine in the encounter, making it manageable after all.
If it still goes wrong, you will get the notification “Challenge Failed”. To try again, you can all die, and the encounter will restart.

Tips for the challenge
Even if it sounds easy, we have compiled a few practical tips that you can use.
- Equip damage resistance and healing resources for the challenge, as this helps you survive in critical situations.
- For the tactics in the Light pools, you have two options:
- You can either slightly separate the Gaze-bearer by positioning the damage team right in the circle and the Gaze-bearer on the left.
- Alternatively, the Gaze-bearer can only jump into the Light pool after another player must steal Golgoroth’s gaze again.
- To get rid of the Axion darts, the Gaze-bearers should equip a rapidly firing machine gun as usual.
- To allow the Fury-takers to quickly acquire the gaze buff, the exotic linear fusion rifle “Arbalest” has proven effective. One bullet is sufficient, so you don’t have to waste much ammunition.
- Also good to know: Losing the gaze due to death or ending the damage phase has no impact on the challenge.
What rewards do you get? If you have successfully mastered the challenge, you will receive bonus loot in addition to completing the title plaque “Stunned Gaze”.
In addition to the standard chest at the end of the encounter, a second loot chest appears after a short time. This chest also contains top-tier gear.
As each encounter offers special loot, this means that for the raid challenge “Stunned Gaze” you will receive the headpiece, leg armor, the hand cannon “Curse of Zaouli”, or the fusion rifle “Midha’s Reckoning”.
- In normal mode, completing a challenge gives you double loot.
- If you play on the Grandmaster difficulty level, you receive stat-specific armor and “Tormented” weapons (Master versions). However, the power level requirement here is also 1600 with anti-barrier champions.
- You can also earn the new raid-exclusive Exotics in the Oryx look at Grandmaster.
Guaranteed to receive a weapon with Deep Sight Resonance: All weapons from the Kingsfall raid are craftable. However, you must first unlock their blueprints.
So don’t forget to collect the Oryx chest symbols specifically in this Ogre phase. Only then can you secure the additional raid weapon with a red border as a drop from the final boss.
