Data miners combed through the game files of Destiny 2 on PC and found The Myriad as a new treasure location. What is this about and is this place really coming to the game?
Just a few days ago, shortly after the launch of Destiny 2 on PC, data miners uncovered a variety of leaks. They rummaged through a multitude of audio files featuring characters like Petra and Variks, events like the SRL, and even new locations.
These new places are said to be coming to the game soon:
- Ganymede – Ganymede is the largest moon of our solar system and orbits Jupiter. Ganymede is an ice moon.
- Phobos – The larger of the two Mars moons, Phobos and Deimos. According to the files, it is supposed to be a patrol zone.
- Mercury – This location is already confirmed, more or less, for the first DLC. The audio files reinforce this now.
- The Myriad – This is also supposed to be a new location, although there is no celestial body in our solar system with that name. The word “Myriad” means “10,000” in Greek and is used metaphorically to mean “a very large number.” One could say, for instance, that millions of stars can be seen in the night sky.

The data miner who presented these leaks pointed out that he could not confirm whether these places will ever come to the game. They might just be remnants in the code that do not provide any hints about the future of Destiny 2.
However, the locations are conceivable:
- The Mercury is already considered confirmed for the first DLC according to leaks.
- Phobos was already featured in Destiny 1. The PvP map “Black Shield” takes place there.
- Ganymede is a moon of Jupiter, just like Io. Perhaps the Guardian’s journey will soon take them there. It is possible.
Only “The Myriad” raises questions. If this is not a world in our solar system, could it perhaps be a distant world that the Guardians must travel to? Or is Myriad something entirely different?
The Myriad is probably Nessus
The YouTuber Unknown Player has investigated these questions and unearthed some answers. And all these answers say: The Myriad is not a new world, but simply the old name for Nessus in the game files.
- According to the game files, Myriad is a location on the edge of our solar system. This statement also applies to Nessus.
- Moreover, Myriad is not always visible; this place has suddenly appeared. This also aligns with Nessus, as Nessus is not a planet or moon, but a planetoid that orbits the sun on a very eccentric path every about 122 years. This means it can be extremely far from the sun for years, sometimes even significantly further than Neptune. Presumably, during the time Destiny 2 takes place, it is closer to the sun.
- Nessus was almost completely transformed into a machine world by the Vex. Regarding Myriad, it is said that there is a strong Vex presence there.
- According to the audio files, the Guardians visit Myriad because they receive a signal from there. That is also why we go to Nessus, as Cayde-6 needs to be rescued.
There are more clues:
- On a Ghost shell, there was a perk in Russian language stating that the Ghost could detect resources on Myriad within 30 meters. Later, this was adjusted to “Nessus”:

This is a clear indication that Myriad was used as an early name for Nessus during development and thus still appears in the game files.
- But that is not all: This concept art was once released, which can clearly be associated with the planetoid Nessus. The image is called “Myriad crash site”:

- And another clue: In the databases, there are Myriad shaders (that are not in the game) that clearly resemble the Nessus shaders:
In summary: Basically, there is no doubt that Myriad is not a new world, but that this term stands for Nessus.
