The data miner who was responsible for the recent Forsaken leak on Reddit is no longer spoiling and allegedly even helped Bungie close the corresponding security loophole in Destiny 2. Does this confirm the alleged details?
As we recently reported, a massive leak regarding numerous aspects of the Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2 has been circulating on Reddit for some time.
The data miner has now spoken out again on Reddit, announcing that he will not spoil any more Forsaken content until the release. In addition to numerous fans, Bungie itself is said to have asked him to do so. Is there more to the leak than some suspect?

No more leaks about Forsaken
What happened? For the past week, there has been a post on Reddit summarizing numerous alleged and now even partially confirmed information about the Forsaken expansion – including about the raid, the strikes, Gambit, the story, and the new clan features.
But it was only the “This Week at Bungie” blog from August 16 that caught the community’s attention. There, Bungie published some new information that the leak had already mentioned six days prior – including about Gambit and the clan features. Many have been wondering how much of the leak could still come true since then.
Gensor, the author of the leak threads and a data miner himself, had actually promised further details about Forsaken. However, he recently reappeared and announced that there would be no more leaks before the release of the autumn expansion.

The leak took unexpected proportions: Gensor cited the main reason as the leak taking an unexpectedly large scale and spreading rapidly. As a result, the alleged details reached many people who wanted to avoid spoilers. Suddenly, the leak was the talk of YouTube, Twitter, and numerous gaming sites, making it almost impossible to escape this information.
Numerous fans tried to avoid these spoilers by all means but ultimately ended up learning about them, whether through conversations with friends or elsewhere. This ruined the excitement and gaming experience for many, and made the author reflect. He feels guilty and responsible, according to his own words.
Thus, he decided not to disclose any further information – even though many fans are eagerly waiting for it and he had initially promised it. He has further details regarding armor, weapons, lore, new bounties, perks, quests, and the raid – but he will only post these after the release of Forsaken.

Leak author helps Bungie close security loophole
Contact with Bungie: The author also stated that Bungie personally contacted him and inquired about the source of his leak. He shared all the details with the studio, so the developers could close the security loophole from which Ginsor obtained his information.
In the end, Bungie kindly asked him not to post any more leaks so that fans could discover these details for themselves. Ginsor agreed and explicitly emphasized that the studio had exerted no pressure on him.
By the way: According to Ginsor, the source of the leak was not a person.

What is the truth behind the leak?
Initially ridiculed: The leak was initially laughed at by many, but six days after its appearance, it gained significance due to the TWaB. Following the recent developments, many fans now consider the leak credible.
TWaB brings change of opinion: Initially, the leak contained details that were essentially confirmed later in the TWaB. Furthermore, the previous work of the data miner – also regarding Forsaken – has been quite solid and is very popular within the community on Reddit.
Bungie provides the proof for many: However, the biggest confirmation fans see in the alleged contact with Bungie. The request from the studio is difficult to verify. But the fact that such a statement from Bungie’s very active community managers is not denied leads the community to conclude that the post must be true – especially given that it has over 2,700 upvotes, making it one of the most prominent Destiny threads in recent days.
What do you think? Do you find the leak plausible? Is this what awaits us with Forsaken?
