Are the exotic Warlock gloves “Ophidian Aspect” a strong Exotic in Destiny 2? Are they still as strong as in Destiny 1?
In Destiny 1, the “Ophidian Aspect” was introduced with the “Rise of Iron” expansion. These were exotic Warlock gloves specifically designed for the Voidwalker and quickly became known as a strong Exotic due to their perks. They were always very popular in both PvE and PvP.
With the release of the “Curse of Osiris” expansion for Destiny 2, these exotic gloves have made a comeback in the world of Destiny.
Ophidian Aspect – How to Obtain the Exotic
There are several possible sources for these exotic gloves:
- You can get the gloves as a random drop from all sources that can drop exotic engrams.
- Xur: Sometimes the Agent of the Nine has the gloves available, as he did last weekend.
What Makes the Ophidian Aspect in Destiny 2 Special
The gloves now have the following perks:
- Cobra Totem (intrinsic): Weapons ready up very quickly and reload very quickly. Melee is extended.
Additionally, you have the choice between:
- Mobility Enhancement Mod: increased mobility
- Plasteel Reinforcement Mod: increased resilience

What Can the Gloves Do in PvE and PvP?
One thing is immediately clear: The Ophidian Aspect is now suitable for all three Warlock focuses. While the glove was entirely tailored to the Voidwalker in Destiny 1, now all Warlocks benefit from the perks – regardless of their specialization. The intrinsic perk focuses solely on weapon handling and melee attacks, leaving the individual skills of the Warlock completely untouched.
Cobra Totem – What the Intrinsic Perk Does in Detail
Benefit 1: Weapons are readied faster when wearing the gloves. This specifically means that the time required to aim the weapon and target through the sights is reduced.

The difference to the regular required time is minimal – just a few frames – but at a high level, this can already be decisive in PvP.
Benefit 2: The reduced reload time is much more noticeable. This can be really significant for some weapons.

Furthermore, you can build valuable synergies through reload mods for armor and weapon perks that also reduce the reload time, which can be immensely beneficial in both PvE and especially in PvP.
Benefit 3: The melee range of the user is also increased – and by quite a lot!

All Warlock classes receive the same range! The Stormcaller no longer holds the monopoly here. The increase in range is beneficial for both PvE and PvP. Particularly the Voidwalker with the Hunger skills and the Devour perk can massively benefit from this – even though the higher melee range benefits all Warlocks. Only a Titan with exotic Synthoceps gloves has a higher range in Destiny 2.
Who Benefits from the Ophidian Aspect?
In principle, the gloves are beneficial for all Warlocks, although certainly the Voidwalker can tap into their potential the most intensely. No Warlock who prefers an aggressive playstyle and likes to dive into melee combat – for example, in combination with an SMG – is making a mistake by equipping these gloves – neither in PvE nor in PvP.
Conclusion: In Destiny 2, the Ophidian Aspect proves to be not only a strong choice for PvP and PvE, but these exotic gloves, considering the alternatives, are probably one of the best – if not THE best Exotic – that a Warlock can currently equip, and they are definitely worth an Exotic slot. If you decide to go for them, you definitely can’t go wrong.
