Destiny 2 went all out again as they revealed details about the future of the loot shooter in their latest reveal for “The Final Form.” One of the main points was what will happen after the “last” DLC, and that might please you.
How does Destiny 2 work? If you are interested in Destiny 2 and want to always play the latest content, you need to purchase a major DLC and four seasons each year. The biggest story events take place in the DLC, while the seasons are meant to entertain players until the next DLC – narratively as well as gameplay-wise.
This system has been in place by Bungie since 2019 with the release of the “Shadowkeep” DLC. Now, since the reveal of the upcoming DLC “The Final Form”, no seasons as you know them will be released. Instead, episodes will replace the old model.

In 2024, there won’t be seasons, but episodes
What has Bungie revealed? The developer studio behind Destiny 2 has now developed a new and more fitting concept for the continuation of the loot shooter. Seasons will no longer be a topic in the Final Form. Instead, you will have episodes that will connect to the further events after the first major saga.
Three episodes are already known, which you can expect by 2025:
- Episode 1: Echoes, March – June 2024
- Episode 2: Revenants, July – October 2024
- Episode 3: Heresy, November 2024 – February 2025
What can I expect in an episode? So far, we can only glean from Bungie’s promo material what you can expect. Among the things are:
- New quests
- A new artifact
- New weapons
- New activities
- A possible season pass
- New armor
Additionally, Bungie talks about a larger amount of content that players will receive when they play an episode. Furthermore, every fan, regardless of how deep into the story they are, can participate in the episodes.
The crucial question is, however, how it is divided, as each episode is divided into three acts. Each act lasts 6 weeks and has the same symbols of content determination as Act 1 of the respective episode.
Bungie has wrapped the new content like the former seasons. So, if you buy the annual pass, it includes, among other things, the campaign for “The Final Form” as well as all three episodes.
Do you find the upcoming system better or do you prefer DLCs with the old seasons? Let us know in the comments!
