Amidst the new quests and activities of Destiny 2, there is now a burning warning that makes the Guardians pay attention. In Season 23, a desire for more damage in “The Wind” not only sets you on fire but sometimes even your game. MeinMMO has all the details.
This bug is currently burning players: Bungie has already warned the Guardians that wishes from a wish dragon always come with a price. Interestingly, a bug has now ensured that this is actually the case.
- The error occurs in the activity “The Wind,” where players tackle an increasing level of difficulty with each run to claim a room full of loot upon reaching platinum.
- To assist them, Riven, the wish dragon, offers various buffs (wishes) that they can buy from her using wish glass shards before each section.
However, those who activate a specific wish there suddenly face some hot in-game effects that can set the Guardian on fire uncontrollably and even lead to the game crashing.

Season 23 ignites Solar fans’ fire
Better keep your hands off this: In “The Wind,” one of the seasonal activities in Season 23, you can fulfill the level 3 advantage for more solar damage through scorching against wish glass shards. Scorching Wish
promises to apply an impressive 50 scorching stacks on your enemies.

However, those who activate this wish buff with Riven will quickly regret it right now. For instance, using the hand cannon “Sunshot” already causes your character to be afflicted with infinite scorching stacks, and you will be “on fire.” Your “Well of Radiance” also gives you additional scorching buffs.

This fire can even kill the game: While a lot of scorching stacks alone cannot kill a Guardian, there won’t be much life left either. You may be incredibly powerful, which is quite tempting, but it only works as long as you keep healing yourself in Destiny 2 by any available means. However, eventually, you will reach a point where you have built up so many scorching stacks that even Destiny 2 crashes.
What does the community say about the joy fire? They are not annoyed by it at all, but rather excited. Because now there is a situation in Season 23 where a seemingly positive or desirable action unexpectedly leads to negative consequences.
Such a true irony of a seemingly good decision that one would always expect in dealing with a wish dragon.

What is a Monkey’s Paw situation?
The expression is sometimes also used as “Monkey’s Paw” or “Monkey’s Paw Effect” to refer to an unwanted turn or negative consequences that can arise from a specific action or, as here, a wish.
Some players even believe this is intentional. However, if you look at the game crashes, this cannot be an intended effect from Bungie. And this has now also been confirmed.
This is what Bungie says: With all the fun, the Season Creative Lead of Bungie has stated to Paul Tassi that it is not a malicious or devious intent from Riven or Bungie.
Currently, it is still unclear when the developer can fix the issue. Surely you can use the wish – but healing is only possible as long as you have enemies. If these are lacking, there is little or no way to save yourself. With just one life point left, you are then a one-shot from everything. And Destiny 2 could still crash on you. So better not tempt your luck until a solution is found.
