In Destiny 2, Bungie has made changes to PvP again. This time, however, in favor of pro players. However, don’t worry, Bungie still keeps its skill-based matchmaking.
What has happened? In Destiny 2, as usual, a new patch rolled out on Tuesday. Hotfix 6.2.5.1 not only brought some bug fixes to the game, but also an adjustment that Bungie highlighted. It was about the Crucible and elite players.
This time, however, the development team did not back down and did not remove the skill-based matchmaking again, but only made a slight adjustment for pro players in PvP. Some changes are intended to make matches even more relaxed and better for professional players.
Patch 6.2.5.1 improves matchmaking for pros
What was changed? According to Bungie Help’s Twitter post, several “adjustments” were targeted. Bungie’s goal was to improve matchmaking speed and connection for players in higher skill levels in the “Control” mode.
If you have ever been in SBMM and searched for competitors in a match, you either spent a lot of time in matchmaking or got opponents with a really poor connection.
According to the listed adjustments, Bungie also wants to provide a fair match for the sweat-lords among you, where skill secures your victory and no guardians win who teleport across the map with a bad connection.
What is the mood of the players after the change? Bungie’s announcement did not go unnoticed by all players and pros. Even Aztecross mentions in his video Bungie’s Twitter post and talks about a possible removal of SBMM in Control. The YouTuber was pleased with the thought, but his fans corrected him in the comments and clarified that SBMM was not disabled.
However, under the official Twitter post, the majority of players agree. They want SBMM completely gone, as it has no place in a casual mode like “Control”. Additionally, the penalty for game abandonments should also be disabled.
The longer players have to endure skill-based matchmaking, the greater the displeasure and the voices against such a system grow. It is unclear whether Bungie will stick to its plan or give in and disable SBMM again.
What do you think? Will Bungie hold firm? Or do you believe the developers will give in after Lightfall and remove SBMM completely? Let us know in the comments!
