Guardians only have to wait a few more weeks until the first major expansion of Destiny 2: Forsaken is released. New gameplay footage shows that a new Escalation Protocol could also be coming with Forsaken.
If you were to ask the Guardians what the best feature of the Warmind expansion is, the answer would mostly be the Escalation Protocol. The “horde” mode is very popular – it makes sense that Bungie would need to step it up with Forsaken, right?
Bungie continues to build the hype: Bungie has exclusively revealed many new details to Game Informer, including in the form of gameplay videos. One of the gameplay videos suggests that we are seeing the new version of the Escalation Protocol here – with new enemies:
The game mode is described: The video does not mention the Escalation Protocol at all, but the narrator does say:
“We’ve fought hundreds of the new enemy faction.” This translates to us having already fought hundreds of the creepy new enemies. A mode with hundreds of enemies? Sounds a lot like Escalation Protocol.
And the shown scenes certainly suggest a new Escalation Protocol or a similar event (0:24 – 0:27), however, there is no official confirmation. It is also not known whether Bungie will comment on the rumors.

New offshoot is likely to please fans: A reissue of the horde mode is likely to delight the Guardians, especially with new enemies and new challenges. If the interpretation of the gameplay video holds true, the Guardians will have plenty to do in Forsaken.
Finally, the Gambit mode has also been announced as a new game mode that has received mostly positive feedback.
What do you think? Would you be excited about a reissue of the Escalation Protocol?
