Today marks the start of the 1st Iron Banner event in Year 2 of Destiny 2. This event brings a new PvP map that many Guardians know and love.
Iron Banner brings Pantheon back: When the Iron Banner event starts today, September 18 at 7 PM, a new PvP map goes live. Bungie only posted this tweet about the new map (and the new Iron Banner gear), and many Guardians immediately recognized which map it is: a rework of Pantheon.
What Pantheon 2.0 is all about: Pantheon was a popular map in Destiny 1. It was set in the Black Garden and was introduced to the Destiny universe with “Darkness Awaits.” In Destiny 2, it is returning under the name “Convergence.”
Map for all PvP playlists: Bungie confirms that Convergence will be available not only in Iron Banner but in all Crucible playlists. Every Destiny 2 player can play on it, although only Forsaken owners will have access in private matches.
What fans are saying: In the comments under the tweet and on reddit, players are celebrating the return of Pantheon. Many have noted that it was their favorite map. Additionally, the map is excellent for sniping, which coincides with the fact that snipers have become useful again since Forsaken. One player writes that they never liked PvP, but they do like this map.
All information about the Iron Banner start on September 18.
The most important facts about the 1st Iron Banner in Season 4:
- Start: Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 PM
- End: Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 PM
- Mode: Control in 6v6 format
How to participate:
- All Destiny 2 players can participate. Eligibility does not depend on Year 1 DLCs or the Forsaken expansion
- However, you will likely have to complete the campaign surrounding Ghaul and be at least character level 20. These were the previous participation requirements
- Then speak to Lord Saladin in the Tower, who will be waiting for you above the Gunsmith at 7 PM
- The Iron Banner can be initiated from the Crucible overview in the Director.
What’s new with Iron Banner in Year 2?
- Power level matters again: For the first time since the release of Destiny 2, power level advantages will be activated – just as many veterans remember from Destiny 1 times.
This means that Guardians with a higher power level will have an advantage over players with a lower power level. They will deal more damage and take less damage. Therefore, you should wear your most powerful gear for the event. How much the advantages will be remains to be seen.
- All Guardians can participate in the Iron Banner event, regardless of which expansions they own. However, players without Forsaken will only receive Iron Banner rewards with the maximum power level available to them.
- Year 2 rewards with random rolls and compatibility with Year 2 mods will also be available to all Guardians.
Iron Banner delivers powerful loot
New reward system:
- Lord Saladin will offer 7 weekly bounties. Each successfully completed bounty will grant you an Iron Banner reward.
- Two of these bounties offer powerful gear. This is loot that can raise your power level above 500.
- All Iron Banner weapons and armor pieces can drop for you.
- Additionally, the Iron Lord offers armor pieces and two weapons with unique rolls for direct purchase for each event. You can acquire these items once you have completed the corresponding bounty.
- There will also be drops after completing Iron Banner matches. Crucible and Iron Banner gear can drop there.
What about old Iron Banner tokens? If you still have tokens left from Season 3, you can redeem them for reputation packages. This way, Iron Banner weapons and armor pieces can also drop for you.
