What is happening with the next Iron Banner and the postponed Faction Rally in Destiny 2?
Last week, Bungie faced harsh criticism: Because the “Curse of Osiris” DLC made certain activities that have been in the game since the launch of Destiny 2 inaccessible to all Guardians without the DLC. Specifically, this meant that those who did not purchase the DLC could not play either Prestige activities or the Trials of the Nine. Players who only own the standard version had their content taken away.
After a wave of complaints and refund requests, Bungie had to respond. They admitted mistakes and made the Trials and the Prestige Raid accessible to all again. Bungie also admitted: These contents are not the only ones affected. The Iron Banner and the Faction Rally would also exclude Guardians without the DLC.
To avoid further frustration, the third Faction Rally was postponed. It was supposed to take place currently.
What is now with the Iron Banner and the Faction Rally?
Bungie addresses the current blog post about the Iron Banner and the Faction Rally. The goal is to constantly bring new challenges to the Destiny universe while keeping the old challenges relevant. And to do this without taking them away from those who do not want to pay for new content. This is a delicate balancing act that they aim to improve in the future.
For the near future, this means that Bungie will make changes to the Faction Rally and the Iron Banner so that everyone can participate. More information will follow as soon as the work is done. Only then will both events return. And it will be for everyone. One can expect “very soon”.
By the way: To earn the new rewards of these events, you need the DLC. Without the DLC, you can only obtain the rewards that have been in the game since the launch of Destiny 2.
Known Issues after 1.1.1.1
Bungie is not only working on bringing back these two events, but they are also working on solutions for new issues. These problems have emerged after the 1.1.1.1 update:
- Masterwork cores are not being correctly forwarded to the Postmaster when Masterwork weapons are dismantled with a full consumable inventory. Until the problem is resolved, Bungie recommends ensuring sufficient inventory space before dismantling items.
- Masterwork multikills on floating enemies: An issue has been verified where multikills on floating enemies do not produce Orbs of Light as intended.
- Quickplay challenges: There is an issue where challenges do not appear for players when they join a quickplay in the Crucible.
- Ikora Beacon: There is an issue where players see a beacon over Ikora when they do not have enough tokens for a reputation package.
When all these issues will be resolved remains to be seen.
