With the March update for Destiny 2, Bungie introduced a mechanic to prevent Strikes and Crucible maps from immediately repeating in their respective playlists, as this was considered boring. This mechanic has now been disabled.
With the release of Update 1.1.4, a lot has changed in Destiny 2. The sandbox has been extensively adjusted, and PvP has been fundamentally revised. At the same time, a mechanic was introduced that is supposed to ensure that both Strikes and Crucible maps do not immediately repeat in their respective playlists. Guardians find that boring.

However, this feature did not last long – the mechanic was disabled shortly after the March update was released.
Protection Mechanic Unintentionally Kicks Players into Orbit
Shortly after the Destiny servers went live again, reports quickly piled up that Guardians were being kicked into orbit from Strikes and Crucible matches with the error code BAT.
Bungie investigated the issue, and it appears that the cause of the numerous orbital flights is directly related to the aforementioned protection mechanic. Bungie then promptly disabled it again.
Until the cause of the orbit kicks is resolved, the mechanic will remain out of service. It is not yet known when exactly a fix for the problem can be expected.
