Bungie released a new trailer for Destiny 2: Witch Queen on January 11. This provides more detailed insights into various areas of the Throne World. Additionally, Guardians will gain the ability to reveal deceptions through mental power.
What was shown new? The new trailer revealed areas that Guardians will explore. These places range from the familiar scenery of the Queen’s castle to new locations, such as a “dock” where the Pyramid ships are being loaded.
As the Guardians are in the world of deceptions, tricks and secrets are part of the game. As shown in the trailer, you will gain a new ability to reveal invisible platforms, thus delving deeper into the Throne World.
There are also further glimpses from the castle which are accompanied by many major enemies and a Savathun that can replicate herself.
Secret locations waiting to be discovered
The most exciting discovery in the trailer is probably the new ability of the Guardians. With this, hidden paths can be opened, allowing you to penetrate deeper into the Throne World. However, no further information was disclosed on how to learn this.
The new ability closely resembles the clear sight, which was triggered by the Queen’s Leaf tincture in the Dreaming City. With it, secret locations and passages in the Awoken City could be discovered.
Whether this is an item or a new talent that can be invoked through training with Ikora remains unclear.
Is there new info about Savathun? Judging by the trailer, the Queen will be able to split into various copies to make life difficult for you as Guardians. Furthermore, a shadowy likeness of her was also seen, reminiscent of Crota from Destiny 1.
Whether the castle scenes feature the raid or just a patrol remains unknown. It is conceivable that the Guardians will need to take out several copies of her before they can reach the true Queen.
A new exotic has a name: At the end of the trailer, the complete package of Witch Queen was shown along with the benefits of pre-ordering. Among them was revealed the name of the new exotic, which is: Osteo Striga.
Guardians have already dissected the name and apparently know the meaning of the new firearm.
- Osteo – Ancient Greek for bone
- Striga – This refers to a semi-parasitic plant
One could conclude that the new SMG is a mixture of bones and parasitic plants. Whether the weapon also has parasitic properties remains unclear, but is still conceivable.
What does the community say? Many Guardians from the community hope that there are enough secrets and places to explore. They want “The Witch Queen” to even surpass the Dreaming City in abundance.
I really hope that there are many more secrets than in the Dreaming City because the Ascendant Realm and all that other stuff really pleased me.

Furthermore, some players are also impressed by the huge potential of the large and open map area. Plenty of room for various secrets, which are supposed to deliver tension and a craving for gaming.
With 525,886 views on YouTube and 30,225 likes (as of 01/12/22), interest is high, and players can hardly wait to finally put an end to the Witch Queen in their own four walls.
What do you think of the trailer and the content that was shown? Do you find the new SMG cool and are you excited about a parasitic companion? Or would you rather wait and observe the release from afar until you have a final opinion on it? Let us know!
