Tomorrow there will be major changes in Destiny 2. With the 30th Anniversary Bungie Package, new content and changes are coming to the game. The quality-of-life adjustments have been received very positively, as they also include changes to the purchasing system for exotic ornaments, making it easier to achieve a good appearance in the future.
For Destiny 2 players, appearance has always been important. With the transmog system, players already have an overview of all legendary armor ornaments available to them. However, it has not been so easy with exotic ornaments.
This is how the system has worked so far: Exotic ornaments have previously been viewable through Eververse, the Destiny 2 in-game shop, and the collection. Players regularly checked the rotation in the Eververse shop to see if the desired exo ornament might be on offer there.
Now, Bungie has been looking for a way to improve this experience and make the purchase of exotic ornaments more practical for players.
Changes starting December 7: With the update tomorrow, Tuesday at 6:00 PM, it will be easier for players to find exotic ornaments for certain weapons and armor. This will also allow players to quickly see which ornaments they own and which ones are still missing for a specific item.
- The classic method of searching for exo ornaments in Eververse will remain.
- Exotic items can be specifically inspected for ornaments through the character menu.
- All currently available exotic ornaments in the Eververse archive will be considered.
- There will be a silver and (if available) bright dust purchase option for exotic ornaments.
This is how you find the new exo ornament overview: When you select and inspect an exotic weapon, just click on weapon cosmetics. For armor pieces, you will find this either in the view of the armor itself or through the Guardian Appearance screen.
The long browsing in Eververse is no longer necessary: Thanks to the change, players are no longer so dependent on Eververse. It is enough to directly inspect the favorite item to see what would fit well with the outfit or which exotic ornament they would still like to have.
Direct purchase through the character menu is also possible: If the exotic ornament is offered for bright dust in a specific week through the character screen, players can purchase it directly. Otherwise, the ornaments can be bought for silver.
Will all ornaments then be available? After the announcement of this improvement, players have wondered whether they will finally have access to all ornaments. Especially, players have long desired the exotic chrome ornament “The Unseen Story” for the Vex Mythoclast or “Patient Zero” for the pulse rifle Perfected Outbreak. Specifically, these ornaments have not been available or have not been permanently in the Eververse shop archive.
Bungie’s community manager dmg04 responded to this in a reddit thread:
At this time, only ornaments that are available in Eververse can be seen on weapons. We have many ornaments in the archive area, but still need to bring some in. Currently, I have no additional information on this, but I hope to provide updates when it becomes possible.
As of now, it is still not possible to see and thus also purchase all exotic ornaments in the character menu.
The community chose the latest ornament themselves: In the upcoming seasons, there will again be new ornaments. However, these are usually still unknown and determined by Bungie. This is different for the exotic bow Le Monarque.
Bungie had asked the community to vote on which weapon (from a provided selection) should receive an ornament. The players overwhelmingly chose the exotic bow Le Monarque.
Bungie then designed this ornament for the exotic bow and presented it to the community in the TWaB (This Week at Bungie Blog).
If you log into Destiny 2 tomorrow evening after the update, you can directly inspect the “Le Monarque” bow, switch to the ornaments, and view and purchase the new ornament there. It is not yet known whether it will be available for bright dust or silver.
