In Destiny 2 , hints of the return of a classic Exotic have been found. Are we soon to see the horrors of the Strike bosses again, and would the shotgun fit into the current game?
This weapon has been discovered: Players are sure that the 4th Horseman is returning to Destiny 2. The apocalyptic Exotic was found during the announcement of the Trials of Osiris.
In a coolly staged video, Bungie announced the PvP hope. But some Guardians kept a cool head and spotted the Exo-Shotgun on the back of a Warlock in the trailer. The carried pump has four barrels and strongly resembles the classic design.
Here we have already reported briefly about the discovery. However, we want to take a closer look at the Exotic here and explore what makes the weapon special and whether it fits in Destiny 2.
What makes the Exotic special? In Destiny 1, the 4th Horseman was the terror of many Strike bosses. The reason for this was the perk “Thunderer”. This made the pump fire its entire shotgun magazine in the blink of an eye, and the bosses would fall just as quickly.
To be fair, for the shotgun to hit properly, modifiers (Burns) like increased special weapon or Arc damage were necessary. But even otherwise, the weapon was very strong in close combat as a burst weapon. Additionally, there was a chance that kills would generate ammunition.
In PvP, the pump was not seen that often. Little range and burning through ammunition quickly is not appreciated in the Crucible. But in the fight against Supers or as a fun weapon, the very stylish shotgun caused a lot of laughter.
Does the 4th Horseman fit in Destiny 2? Definitely! Although we do not know in what form – or if – the shotgun will celebrate its return, the Exotic is very much conceivable in the current Destiny.
When thinking of PvE shotguns, the fully automatic Ikelos shotgun immediately comes to mind. Although the weapon and its sustained fire have since been nerfed multiple times, these pumps are still likely the best choice for dealing damage quickly.
With looter perks and various ammo finders, the 4th Horseman should always have ammunition for its devastating hail of bullets. If the fire rate is oriented towards the original, the bosses will surely tremble in fear.

How are players reacting to the discovery?
What do the Guardians say? The majority of the Guardians would celebrate a soon return of the 4th Horseman. On Reddit, users have long been calling for the thundering pump to return sooner rather than later. The playstyle would fit wonderfully into Destiny 2.
Also on Twitter, comments like: “Oh, yes. The Gjallar shotgun” can be read. The reference to the Breach and the even bigger Boss horror Gjallarhorn is unmistakable.
Ideas for an exotic Masterwork Catalyst are already in the works. According to Redditor jakedog91, Bungie should introduce the perk Tube Barrel and Extra Stability for the Masterwork version.
