The Vault of Glass returns today, the new old raid opens its gates for the first time this evening in Destiny 2. MeinMMO summarizes everything important about the launch of the Glass Chamber for you. Will you be there right at the start?
What is the reason for the return? It concerns the return of the raid Glass Chamber (Vault of Glass) as part of the Season 14. Some Guardians may be stepping into this raid for the first time today, but many Destiny veterans remember this iconic activity from part 1. This is actually the very first raid of the Destiny franchise (2014). And many special experiences and memories are associated with it.
Because for some, the VoG still embodies one of the best, if not the best raids in the entire Destiny series – thanks to an excellently tuned mix of gunfights, jumping sections, and boss mechanics. In the eyes of many players, no other raid has ever come close to the quality and fun factor of the Glass Chamber. Many iconic weapons like the Vision of Confluence, the Fatebringer, or the Vex Mythoclast come from this activity. Accordingly, the excitement for the return is also considerable for some.
Everything you need to know about the launch of the Vault of Glass
When exactly does it start? Today, Saturday, May 22, at 7:00 PM German time.
Who can participate? All players – regardless of optional content or the season pass for Season 14. Because this activity is labeled as Free-to-Play according to the roadmap. So none of the major expansions or the current season is needed to play.
What is the recommended power level? The recommended power level is 1,300. According to Bungie, this should be sufficient to master all encounters in the raid. If you’re stronger, you won’t have any advantages.
However, the studio keeps referring to the first 24 hours regarding the power level. Whether it remains the same afterward and whether simply having a higher level gives advantages, or whether it might be raised, is currently unknown.
The loot:
- For armors, the 3 original sets from Vanilla Destiny return.
- For weapons, with the exception of 2 guns, all legendary raid weapons from part 1 return alongside the exotic Vex Mythoclast.
- These include, for example, the scout rifle Vision of Confluence, the hand cannon Fatebringer, or the shotgun Guilty as Charged.
- For the legendary weapons, there is also a so-called “time-lost” version. What that entails is still not entirely clear. However, a similar concept like the master weapons in Trials and Nightfall might be suspected (i.e., special mods and stat boosts).
- Here you can see all raid loot on light.gg in the overview.
Additionally, there will traditionally be a world champion belt as a special reward for the World First Clear, as well as a special emblem for completing all challenges within the first 24 hours.
Anyone who clears the raid by May 25 also unlocks the “Glass Chamber” Raid Ring for purchase in the Bungie Store. Anyone who masters the Glass Chamber by June 30 will have the opportunity to order the “Glass Chamber” Raid Jacket in the Bungie Store.
Is everything just like in Destiny 1? No. Bungie has already announced that while the original feeling should remain, there will also be some changes and adjustments – not least because the Guardians have become much more powerful compared to part 1 and have more options available. However, no details have been provided so far.
However, data finds already indicate that there will be Vex Wyverns as a new enemy type or that the Gorgons will have significantly more health than in Destiny 1. Furthermore, Champions are suspected in the raid, and there is evidence that, like in the Deep Stone Crypt raid, the raid currency “Conqueror’s Spoils” could be present, with which you can buy copies of already unlocked raid gear at the end of the raid.
The race for World First and other special features: For the first 24 hours, the Glass Chamber will be in a special mode due to the World First race. This means:
- In the first 24 hours, a contest mode is active in the Glass Chamber.
- The maximum power level is capped. If you are stronger, it brings no advantages.
- If the raid is completed in contest mode, a challenge mode will be unlocked – including a list of corresponding triumphs.
- The team that masters all these triumphs first secures the World First title.
- Your team will be wiped if you do not meet the conditions for the respective triumph during an encounter (not in the normal, first run).
- All of this applies only for the first 24 hours. After that, the challenges will disappear for the time being. The encounter challenges will be made available again at a later time in season 14.
Fun Fact: If you use an old trick from Destiny 1 in the World First race, you will be punished. Because even 7 years after the initial release of the Glass Chamber, it seems that it is still possible to push bosses into the abyss in part 2. However, anyone who does this will be disqualified in the race for World First.
What should you pack for the adventure?
Recommendations for starting the new old raid: Currently, it is still unknown what exactly will change in the mechanics in the Glass Chamber – so also uncertain how much the old strategies from part 1 will help during the comeback.
However, most strategies for the start of the Vault of Glass in Destiny 2 and the World First race were primarily centered around the Hunter exotic Star-Eater Scales and the new seasonal grenade launcher mod Breach and Clear. The powerful exotic rocket launcher Deathbringer is also likely to play an important role.
The Hunter exo was apparently too powerful for Bungie, and it was simply disabled for the raid launch. However, you should still rely on the mod in combination with certain grenade launchers. You can find out more about this here: Strong for the endgame – The new artifact mod makes you boss killers
You can’t play at the start yourself? If you can’t join in today, you can feel free to check out the stream of Nexxoss Gaming starting at 6:00 PM. The largest German-speaking Destiny streamer will embark on an adventure in the Vault of Glass right at the start. You can find his stream here:
