If you haven’t completed the Iron Banner armor set from the Season of the Undying in Destiny 2, you should hurry up next week – it’s your last chance. After that, another set is supposed to come. But that might be disappointing.
What’s happening next week in Destiny 2? In Destiny 2, the Iron Banner will start next week with the Weekly Reset on November 26 at 6:00 PM – the last one in the current Season 8.
You have until 6:00 PM on December 3 to
- have fun in 6v6 in Control mode
- advance or complete your armor quest
- score one or another Iron Banner weapon with hopefully good rolls
- and earn additional top gear.
With Vex Offensive: Final Assault, the last officially communicated content of the current season in Destiny 2 has actually already started. So the Iron Banner will really be the last event in Season 8 – unless Bungie has held back something for the currently poor season finale.
Why hurry? With Season 8, Destiny 2 introduced a new Iron Banner armor that you can earn through a multi-part quest. Only then do earned armor pieces of this set drop after matches or from bounties or reputation-engram from Lord Saladin.
The quest must be completed with each character you want to earn the armor with. If you haven’t finished all the quest steps yet, or if you haven’t done it with all characters but absolutely want the armor, you should hurry now.
The upcoming Iron Banner is indeed your last chance to earn the Iron Banner armor pieces from Season 8. Because in Season 9, another set is supposed to come, as the developers stated in their current “This Week at Bungie” blog.
The next Iron Banner armor could be a disappointment for many: If you have already completed the Iron Banner armor from Season 8 and may already be looking forward to a new event armor in the upcoming Season 9, you could be disappointed.
Because as it looks, there will not be any truly new Iron Banner sets as part of the Season of the Dawn. At least a short sentence in the Iron Banner section of the TWaB blog speaks for this.
In the English version of the blog, the studio indeed talks about “reprised armor”, meaning returning/recurring armor. The German version literally states: “In the next season, an armor set returns.” The chances of a completely new Iron Banner set therefore seem slim.
There has also been no mention of new weapons so far, and if Bungie continues to adhere to its philosophy from the last seasons, the chances are high that besides a returning armor, we will only see returning or previous event weapons.
