Since Season 6, the infamous Thorn can be obtained in Destiny 2. However, with a certain Hunter Exotic, this hand cannon becomes significantly more effective in the Crucible.
This is the Exotic armor in question: The return of the Thorn is celebrated by many Guardians. With the infamous poison needle, many Guardians are now causing trouble in the Crucible. As a Hunter, you have the opportunity to maximize the Thorn’s power. To do this, you need a specific helmet – the Foe Tracer.
What can the Foe Tracer do?The Foe Tracer is an Exotic Hunter helmet that has been available in the game since the release of Destiny 2. Thanks to its Exotic perk “Unrelenting Pursuer”, you can mark hit enemies and see through walls. Additionally, you deal more damage to enemies that are low on health.

What can the Thorn do? The projectiles of the Thorn penetrate targets and deal poison damage over time. Kills with the weapon leave ” remnants”. Absorbing a remnant temporarily increases damage and poison damage. Moreover, the magazine is partially reloaded.
Through this synergy, the Thorn becomes even deadlier: Since you can generally locate your enemies through the tick damage of the Thorn, the enemy marking is secondary. This is primarily about the increased damage you receive from the Foe Tracer.
As soon as an enemy has about 30% health left, all your damage sources are buffed. This also affects the poison damage of the Thorn. With this damage bonus, you can eliminate any Guardian with just two headshots as long as the perk “Soul Devourer” is active.

Soul Devourer activates after you have scored a kill with the Thorn and collected your opponent’s “remnant”.
This is why this combo is particularly good in the Crucible: With both damage bonuses, you can take down any Guardian with two precise hits – no matter how much resilience the opposing player has equipped.
If an enemy player has more than 5 points in the resilience stat, he can survive the increased poison damage from the Thorn. However, if you have the Foe Tracer, the opponent’s resilience stat no longer matters.
This way, you can be absolutely sure that the DoT effect of the Thorn will finish the job after two crits as long as you diligently collect your remnants.
In this video, you can see the combination in action:
