In Destiny 2, many sandbox updates are coming. Bungie now provides a glimpse of what to expect in Season 11 and beyond. MeinMMO shows you what will change soon with your weapons and perks.
The current Season 10 is drawing to a close, and Bungie shows what to expect in the future for Destiny 2. The TWaB (via Bungie) from May 21 discusses adjustments that players will soon face.
Because in June, the yet unnamed Season 11 starts and comes with a ton of updates for weapons and perks. We will present these and give a little preview of changes that will appear later in the year.
Season 11 revises many perks
These reload perks will be revised: Currently, most players are looking for the perk combination for higher damage and faster reloading. Often, these 2 types of perks are seen as the only real choice, and then one searches for the “God Roll.”
Bungie wants to adjust the reload perks accordingly. They should feel “still powerful, but not dominant.”
The following reload perks will be adjusted:
- Lawless
- Feast of War
- Quickdraw
- Fallback Magazine
For the mentioned perks, no significant changes will occur, but both the bonus to reload speed and the partially shortened reload animation will be adjusted.
The damage perks experienced a noticeable adjustment in Season 8:
What happens with salvo weapons? Some perks grant ammunition or partially reload the magazine, but for salvo weapons (pulse rifles, fusion rifles, burst pistols), they function only to a limited extent.
The following perks will be better tuned for salvo weapons starting in Season 11:
- Slipping
- Wuuusch!
- Ambitious Assassin
- Last Chance
- Overabundance
- Lead from Gold
- Clown Cartridge
With the adjustments, the mentioned perks are expected to roll more often on salvage weapons soon.
These perks will soon get a buff in Destiny 2
This is how rarely used perks will be improved: Some perks have been overshadowed by stronger alternatives for a while now. Bungie will give these perks a buff:
- Dynamic Swing Reduction: Additionally adds 10 stability over time to the accuracy, which also better controls the reticle. Bungie adds: “That is much stronger than it sounds.”
- Pulse Monitor: When critically wounded, weapons are fully loaded, plus there’s 50% more handling and 5% more weapon swap speed – this also works with stowed weapons.
- Hip-fire Grip: Allows for better aim assist and range when firing from the hip and increases the angle at which hits count as critical hits – does not apply to sniper rifles.
- Stealth Bow: No radar ping when you shoot – Bungie humorously says: “Stealth Buff!”
Bungie announces new perks: On the new seasonal weapons from Season 11, previously unknown perks will drop. Additionally, there will be two revised weapons in the Iron Banner which will also receive brand new perks.
Bungie wants to “not spoil the fun of discovering and testing the new perks” but is already hinting at the names of the new Iron Banner perks:
- Iron Grip
- Iron Gaze
In future seasons, the new perks from seasonal weapons and from the Iron Banner may also roll on other guns.
Preview of the new weapon balance in Destiny 2
Destiny 2 will soon be significantly more frequently honored with balance adjustments. These should not only come with the start of a season but also respond to current conditions. Just like the update for the PvP tyrant Hard Light, which was released in the middle of Season 10.
These weapons will receive a buff: In Season 11, some archetypes that do not perform as desired will receive some love:
- Shotguns: The slug shotguns (precision frame) are rarely used in PvE as they rely heavily on critical hits – but deal little damage. They will receive a 30% damage buff in PvE. A famous representative is The Chaperone.
- Pulse rifles: The type with piercing frame (340) is rarely used in PvP, as it rarely achieves its optimal TTK. The damage will be increased from 21 to 22. A famous representative is Redrix’s Claymore.
- Bows: Bows are hardly used in challenging content. They will receive a 10% buff against minions (enemies with red health bars) in PvE.
This is what should happen in Season 12: Bungie is planning changes for three weapon classes that are a thorn in the community’s side. The adjustments are currently planned for fall 2020.
These problem weapons are:
- Sniper rifles: Revocation and Beloved account for 86% of used PvP snipers. It is being investigated what impact zoom has on usability for snipers. Adjustments should make the different zoom levels more interesting.
- Hand cannons: Bungie is evaluating the individual subclasses of the popular weapon type and wants to emphasize their characteristics. The 110s (aggressive frame) are mentioned as an example. Adjustments are planned for range.
- Auto rifles: After the last update for auto rifles, these have become very prevalent. Bungie does not want to throw away the buff from Season 10, but wants to fine-tune the individual subclasses. Especially the 600s (adaptive frame) currently dominate – well-known representatives include Hard Light and SUROS.
What do you think of the proposed sandbox adjustments? Are you looking forward to the buffs for rarely used firearms and perks, or does it affect one of your favorites?
