In Destiny 2 you can get a new Exo weapon with “The Final Shape”: the Microcosm. What you need to do for the heavy pulse rifle with kinetic element can be found out here.
What kind of weapon is Microcosm? The Microcosm is a pulse rifle in the heavy slot. The weapon has the kinetic element and can score with the following perks:
- Causal Infusion: Final blows with this weapon grant super energy. This weapon receives bonus damage once your super is depleted.
- Causal Beam: Fires a beam of kinetic light, dealing massive bonus damage to shields.
The rifle is unique, as there has not been a pulse rifle in the heavy weapon slot before. If you own the expansion “The Final Shape”, you should definitely get the weapon; it can prove especially useful against bosses and in battles against champions. Shields can also be grilled excellently with it.
We will now show you step by step what you need to do to hold this weapon in your hands soon.

All Steps to Unlock Microcosm
What do I need to do? Before you start the quest, you should have completed the campaign of “The Final Shape” and the Exo quest “Chosen Heroes”. It’s important that you have fully unlocked access to the Shattered Hearts so that Micah-10 can assign you their recovery quests.
You will receive the recovery quests as you complete them one after the other. If you have access to the patrol zones, you need to take the following steps:
- Complete the quest “Recovery: Rootbound”.
- Pick up the quest “Recovery: Underbrush” from Micah-10.

- There is a bug that does not register progress when equipping a mod. The bug can be fixed by killing an enemy in the vicinity.
- Pick up the quest “Recovery: Vegetation” from Micah-10.

Important Info on Quest “Recovery: Sprout”
The missions are tough and require a fireteam. Also, some phases feature “darkness zones” that limit your revives. So equip yourself with your best gear and find a team.
- Once all quests are completed, you just need to speak with Micah-10. She will hand you the rifle.
All quests are easy to find and complete, as you can select them in the menu under “Quests”. This will show you waypoints that lead you to the important places. So mark your quests before starting so you always know where to go.
How good is the weapon? The rifle is worth the effort. Especially in tougher activities like Nightfalls or Raids, where matching damage types are important, you can ignore the elements with Microcosm. Every shield element from every faction will be burned with the rifle. Additionally, you deal massive damage should your ultimate be depleted.
The weapon is thus a strong alternative for all guardians who do not want to specifically take out shields with the Arbalest.
