With the Weekly Reset on January 7, there is a new Exotic Quest for an exotic weapon in Destiny 2: “Devil’s Ruin.” Read here how to start the quest for the pistol and what the gun can do.
How do I start the Exotic Quest? To start the quest for Devil’s Ruin, you simply need to complete a round in the new activity “Sundial.” The start has been available since the Weekly Reset on January 7.
We explain how the Sundial works and what you need to do in this guide. It seems to be irrelevant on which difficulty you complete the Sundial. However, from the heroic variant onwards, there is no matchmaking.
After completing the Sundial, you can go to the Sundial Tower and pick up the quest “A Moment in Time.” That is the quest that rewards you with the pistol “Devil’s Ruin.”
A detailed guide for “Devil’s Ruin” and the Exotic Quest will be available soon on MeinMMO.
What is Devil’s Ruin?
This is what the weapon can do: “Devil’s Ruin” is one of the new weapons from Season 9. The Exotic comes with some useful perks, of which particularly two define the weapon:
- Closing the Gap (intrinsic): Pulling and releasing the trigger fires single shots. Holding it down fires a laser that staggers opponents.
- Pyrogenesis: Fully charging the laser replenishes the magazine from reserves.
- Additionally, light.gg lists the perks Extended Barrel, Projection Fuse, and Combat Grip.

Closing the Gap is particularly useful against Unstoppable Champions. Together with the perk Pyrogenesis, you can deal considerable damage with Devil’s Ruin. By the way, shortly after “Devil’s Ruin,” the fusion rifle “Bastion” will appear.
If you are still having trouble completing the Sundial, you might want to try a forgotten Exotic. It could help you:
