In Destiny 2, after Update 3.0.2, you have the opportunity to earn the exotic hand cannon Hawkmoon with random rolls in the new mission “Omen.” You can also grab the associated exotic masterwork catalyst now.
What’s new: With the latest Update 3.0.2 for Destiny 2 came not only numerous bug fixes and a Hunter nerf to the game. Bungie also introduced a new mission or activity where you can now earn the weapon exotic Hawkmoon with different perk combinations and earn its catalyst – basically the finale of the Hawkmoon quest.
You can also earn an exotic ship in the process. This is likely one of the last contents of the current Season 12. Here is the trailer:
Omen – How to get the Hawkmoon with random rolls
The requirements: First of all, you must have already earned the Hawkmoon. If you don’t have the new weapon exotic yet, you can find out how to get it here:
Moreover, you should have a higher power level. The respective mission has a recommended level of 1,270, some enemies go up to 1,280. Additionally, there are many negative modifiers that will make your life difficult. The activity is quite challenging. There is a triumph for completing it solo, but you should probably try it with a team the first few times.
The first thing you should do: Visit the Crow, Prince Uldren, in the Tangled Shore of the Reef. He is right in the room next to Spider and has the exotic quest “Ravengage” available for you. However, this will not be shown to you. Through this quest, you will get the new exotic ship.
Make your way to the EDZ on Earth: Once you have accepted Uldren’s quest, select the EDZ (European Dead Zone) on Earth in the Director – land in the Trostland area.
Once you land there, drive or walk past the church front to the right. At the first fork to the right, you will see a half-destroyed house with the inscription “ABS Kastner”.
Jump to the first floor there, walk a few meters inside, and look to the right. There you will see a chimney that you can shoot open with the Hawkmoon. Behind it, there is a secret passage and right at the beginning on the left side, a small control box where you can also start the new activity “Omen”.
Important: Make sure to pack something against Unstoppable Champions (this may change in the coming weeks) and consider in your loadouts that you will face all 3 types of elemental shields – Solar, Void, and Arc. It’s best to coordinate with your team beforehand. Otherwise, you will run into problems during the mission. By the way, you must have the Hawkmoon equipped in this mission to progress at certain points.
Complete the mission “Omen”: The mission itself is mostly self-explanatory.
First, you go through several underground passages, corridors, and maintenance tunnels. Once outside, you must demonstrate your parkour skills to reach and climb a dam until you can proceed inside the massive structure.
In the reservoir, you need to hunt 3 Envoys of the Taken (all Ultras), survive some waves of enemies in the boss room of the “Sea of Shadows” strike, and defeat a boss whose mechanics are already known from the original Hawkmoon quest. If you manage to defeat this final boss, you will drive away the Taken, and there will be a chest with rewards from the Traveler.
You can watch the detailed course of the Omen mission with some additional tips in the video from Ilias Gaming:
Note: Once you have completed Omen for the first time, you can start this activity directly from the EDZ map from now on. You no longer need to walk to the control box in the secret passage. However, be cautious, as reports suggest that some associated triumphs are currently buggy.
During your first playthrough, you will receive the Hawkmoon with random rolls twice. Currently, it seems that you can loot the chest at the end of the mission and the feathers only once a week with each of your characters. You cannot farm for the Hawkmoon with random rolls indefinitely.
How to get the masterwork catalyst for the Hawkmoon
You will receive the exotic masterwork catalyst for the Hawkmoon upon first completion of the Omen activity from the chest of the final boss.
If you want to upgrade the weapon to masterwork afterwards, you need to achieve 700 kills with the Hawkmoon.
This is what the catalyst does: As a masterwork, the weapon receives a new perk – Hunter’s Trance. This gives the Hawkmoon a larger magazine. In addition, the perk provides a bonus based on the number of “Paracausal Charge” stacks for handling, reload speed, and range.
How to get the exotic ship “Radiant Hawk”
During the Omen mission and from the boss chest at the end, you will receive Paracausal Feathers as a reward. Once you have collected 100 of them, you will get the new exotic ship.
However, there are also special feathers hidden in the mission’s game world – a total of 5. If you find them all, you will unlock the Lightseeker triumph. However, this triumph seems to be currently buggy.
The locations of all 5 feathers in the Omen mission: You can see where to find the feathers hidden in the mission in this short video from Esoterickk:
Keep in mind: The mission only provides a limited number of feathers per week. You will need several runs and cannot unlock the ship immediately.
