In Destiny 2, parts of the massive puzzle that the community discovered in the new forges of the Black Armory have now been solved. Guardians can secure a secret reward. Here’s how it works.
When the first of the four forges from the “Black Armory” DLC went live, Guardians encountered a big cryptic puzzle, which has since kept numerous fans busy. Now, there are first breakthroughs leading to a reward.
What happened? In the Völundr Forge, numerous symbols, letters, runes, and even entire rune scripts were found, which can only be seen with the help of the new forge weapons.
Fans had some theories about what it all could mean, but a real breakthrough could not be achieved. Now, at least parts of this mysterious secret have been unveiled. This gives Guardians the opportunity to snag two cool emblems that represent two of the three forge families.
With these codes, there are two secret emblems from the Völundr Forge
Both emblems can be found in the first forge, which is the Völundr Forge in the EDZ. To do this, you need to enter a combination of the hidden symbols by shooting with specific weapons.
Norse Glyphs – Rasumssen’s Gift
What’s behind this puzzle? To obtain the emblem “Rasumssen’s Gift”, you must have ignited the Völundr Forge. Additionally, you need the heavy machine gun Hammerhead. You receive this as a reward at the end of the first quest of the Black Armory. Through its scope, you can see the Norse glyphs and other symbols in the forge.
How it works in detail:
- Go to the Völundr Forge on Earth. Stand in the middle of the cave.
- Use the Hammerhead’s scope to first locate the flame symbol at the back of the cave and shoot it with the machine gun. If you hit it, there will be a colorful spark animation.
- Next to you on the floor should be a sun symbol. Find it and stand on it.
- Now you need to input the following combination of symbols and letters by shooting the machine gun: +ULFBERHT+
- Now locate the moon symbol on top of the flat rock in the middle of the room and stand on it.
- Now enter the following combination: +ULFBERH+T
- Then you just need to hit the storm symbol on a wall. You will then receive the first secret emblem.

Japanese Glyphs – Satou’s Secret
What’s behind this puzzle? To obtain the emblem “Satou’s Secret”, you should have already ignited the Gofannon Forge on Nessus. Because for that, the sniper rifle Tatara’s View is needed. Tatara’s View can only be earned in the Gofannon Forge. The emblem itself is then available in the Völundr Forge in the EDZ.
How it works in detail:
- Go to the Völundr Forge on Earth.
- In the back of the cave, there’s a box covered with red tarps. You should be able to see a tiger symbol through the scope of the Tatara’s View sniper rifle. Stand on it.
- Now you need to find and shoot the following symbols: fish, lotus leaf, temple.
- Jump down and look for the dragon symbol on the ground. Stand on it and activate the following signs with shots from the sniper: Asian gate bow, hare, bamboo sticks, temple.
- You will then receive the second secret emblem.

What are these emblems even for?
What the emblems do: Those who think the emblems simply look cool and are purely cosmetic are mistaken. Because apparently, the emblems are a type of key and another step toward solving the massive cryptic puzzle.
When you equip these emblems, you can activate two different signa, a type of technical device, in the Völundr Forge, which was not possible without the emblems before (see the end of the first video).
There is a third signum in the cave of the Völundr Forge that can presumably be activated with the emblem of the third family. Whether there is a fourth signum and how exactly it will continue with the puzzle is currently unknown. However, the emblems are apparently the next step.
