In Destiny 2 there has been an exotic mission in “The Final Shape” since the launch of Episode: Echos, through which you can access the Exotic Class Items. This is how you can find the mission “Destiny Duel” and how to best farm the Exos.
What are the Exotic Class Items? Since the Traveler has been freed from the Witness and Episode: Echos has launched, Guardians can indulge in a new powerful item for their arsenal – the Exotic Class Items. These items fit into the class slot and are of exotic nature.
The special thing about these items: they grant your Guardian two additional effects from Exotic Armor. This means that if you equip such an item on your Guardian, it would be as if you were wearing two Exotic Armors – but in a weaker form.
Important Information about the Class Item
- You can only equip the items if you have the Ultimate “Prismatic” equipped.
- You can only wear one Exotic Armor or a Class Item – both do not work.
However, the problem is that these items are not easy to obtain. You need to make a small effort before you can wear such a unique item on your arm, shoulders, or hips. That’s why we will briefly and thoroughly show you how to quickly get these Exos and how to farm them quickly as well.

How to find the Exotic Class Items
How do I unlock the Exos? To earn the Exotic Class Items, you must unlock the Exotic mission “Destiny Duel.” To unlock the mission, you first need to complete the campaign of “The Final Shape” so that you have access to the patrol zones of the Blighted Heart.
Once you have done that, you need to complete the regional activity “Topple” in the areas: the Outskirt, the Bloom, and the Dead End.
After you have done that, the “Secret Keepers of the Witch Queen” will spawn when you complete a “Topple” activity in the three areas. You now need to find and defeat them. This means you will have to play “Topple” again in each of the three areas and eliminate the three Witches.

What you should keep in mind when defeating the Witches
Completing the “Topple” activity activates a timer that ticks down slowly. In these 5 minutes, you must find and eliminate the Witch in your area. If you do not do this, the Witch will despawn and you will have to complete Topple again in the respective area.
Once you have found and defeated the Witches, you need to return to the area “The Bloom.” When you spawn, you will see a green glowing pillar of light reaching into the sky towards the Traveler’s opening. You need to go there now. Follow the direction until you arrive at the cave “The Refraction of Light.”
Upon entering the cave, a 7-minute countdown will start. In this countdown, you must find your way outside and into the area where Ikora’s ship crashed. You will see two pyramids spawn. You now need to clear the areas beneath the pyramids of enemies until a Herald and an Omen spawn each. Defeat both and they will drop a Light Orb and a Darkness Orb respectively.
You must quickly bring these Orbs back to the cave “The Refraction of Light.” Depending on which Orb you are holding, you must deposit it onto a plate of Darkness or Light. Once you have done this, the mission “Destiny Duel” will be permanently activated. Now you must complete the mission, and afterward, you can claim a Class Item for your class.
Keep in mind that you can only complete the mission as a duo squad. So you need a buddy to help you. The mission cannot be started solo.
How can I best farm the Exos? There are two ways to farm the Exos:
- You farm the mission “Destiny Duel.”
- You collect normal chests in “Topple” after you have completed the Exo mission once.
Completing the mission grants you a Class Item per run (duration about 20-30 minutes) depending on your speed. The problem, however, is that you always have to be in pairs. This is especially a downside for solo players.
The variant with the chests in Topple is easier and faster. Players have found that after 15-20 minutes of farming, they were able to obtain an Exotic Class Item. Streamers like Aztecross also recommend farming chests in the areas where the Ergo-Sum can currently be farmed. This way, you maximize your farming rounds.
You need to farm these items because the perks in the Class Items are always random. So if you want a God Roll for your build, you will necessarily have to choose one of the options.
