Destiny 2: Shadowkeep has a new dungeon: the Pit of Heresy. However, to enter this dungeon, you must first complete a small quest.
These requirements you must fulfill: With the today’s update from October 20, 2019, the new dungeon Pit of Heresy has become accessible if you complete a short quest and own Shadowkeep.
To start the new quest “The Deepening Wake,” you must first complete the main campaign of Shadowkeep. Afterwards, you need at least Power Level 880.
Here starts the quest: If you meet both requirements, you will find the start of the quest with Eris Morn on the Moon. For the quest, you need to complete several tasks:
- Participate in the new public event “Altars of Sorrow”
- Open a “Tier 3” chest or higher during the event
- Kill 20 Nightmares during the event

The event is a bit challenging but should not be a problem with enough Guardians. Certain artifact mods that counter overloading and unstoppable champions and those with barriers are useful.
Reaching the Dungeon “Pit of Heresy”
This is what happens after the quest: Once you have completed the tasks, you must return to Eris. She should already point you to the new dungeon and the Pit of Heresy should appear on the map.

Make your way to the marker and stand next to the glowing green crystal that you find there. Just stand there until the ground disappears. Jump down and you should reach the Necropolis.
A white circle appears on the ground, and when you stand in it, you will see to your right an area where you can jump down.
What should I watch out for? Even though you can complete the quest with Power Level 880, the new dungeon is designed for a Power Level of 940. So you should prepare accordingly.
For a chance of success, you should both improve your equipment with good weapons and level up the artifact enough so that you have the most important mods at hand.
